I had read some not very good reviews about this ship before we left and was a little nervous. Let me tell you....that was for no reason. Our cruise was the week of 5-7-06 and we went to San Juan the day before so we got to the port around 1:30 and we were able to board then....we had about an hour line from start to finish which isn't bad at all. Once on board our staterooms were ready so we checked them out Empress 7309 & 7315 and went up to lunch on the Lido Deck, then on to explore the ship. The ship is bigger than any we had been on before but we quickly got used to where to go. The only complaint that we had about the ship was that you can't get all the way from the back to the front of the ship from every elevator....after we figured that out it was fine.
The Ports of Call on this cruise are beautiful....well worth every penny we spent. Dominica was a pleasant surprise in that we didn't know anything about this port but found it beautiful. Aruba itself is worth the cruise.
Our room steward was great....there if we needed anything but out of sight if we didn't and of course the towel animals were wonderful....PERFECT!!!!!! The wait staff in the dining room was good although we didn't get to know then that well because we had meals at other spots and only ate there 3 - 4 times, so they didn't really get to know our dietary needs. The entertainment was good and we enjoyed the Destiny Idol compitition and the Red, White & Blue compitition also....although we never heard who won. My only suggestion is that we didn't really see Steve our cruise director during the day ....he was at the shows at night but we didn't see him or get to talk to him much anywhere else....now I know this could be because this is a larger ship than we have ever been on and he probably can't be everywhere but that is what we have been used to on other Carnival ships and some Royal Caribbean ships.
Overall....I can't recommend this ship and the itinerary enough.....we had a total blast from start to finish and were wondering if there was some way we could stow away and go for another week, but figured our sign & sail card probably wouldn't work. If you are reading this because you are booked on this ship....good for you have a wonderful time, if you are reading this to decide.... do take this cruise ....you won't regret it!

Pros: Ports of Call

Cons: Nothing
