A mediocre vacation
Carnival Destiny (RETIRED) 28 Cruise Review to Caribbean - Western
Ship: Carnival Destiny (RETIRED) 28
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Traveled As: Couple

This ship (Carnival Destiny) is OK, but it kind of has the "trashy" feel. The decor is definitely out of date and everything seems a bit 80s. For example, during the day, they play games and music at the pool. The music makes you feel like you're at a club in 1985 and the "games" are along the lines of "guess the movie star" on the big screen and it's Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, etc. Maybe it's just catering to old people? Also, the pools were amazingly small. We didn't even go in them the entire cruise. Probably 15 feet wide by 30 feet long (and there were 2 of them). Not much pool room for 2500ish people
The buffet food looked alright, but the average wait in line to get food there was close to 30 minutes so we basically never did it. The dinners in the main dining rooms were great though! I think the drinks are a bit expensive (beers for about $6 and "foo foo drinks" about $8)
The drink staff and cleaning staff were all great. The 2 standup comedy shows that we saw were great. They had karaoke fairly often and the host was TERRIBLE which made it less enjoyable.
I think that maybe even though we were on Carnival (the crazier, fun ships, supposedly) that it caters to the 50ish crowd, not the mid 30s like we are.
