Review SummaryI am a frequent cruiser of the Caribbean Islands. I found the ship itself to be slightly dingy and the facilities outdated. After we had left the port 4 hours after the scheduled embarkation time, we could tell something was going wrong from the start of the trip. Our inital dinner was okay food with a view of the Miami traffic. The captain came over the loud speaker on the first day at sea and informed us that due to technical difficulties with the engines our speed has been delayed and they were not going to make any decisions until later in the day. As we awoke on Monday morning we were suprised to see another "Day at Sea" on our itinerary. Dissapointed that we were not in Jamacia, we went to the deck to take our seats in the sun. The captain came over the loud speaker again and made the announcement that our trip would be detoured from Ochos Rios Jamacia and Grand Cayman to Nassau. Having previous been to Nassau our hopes and excursions for the trip had diminished. We were told that we would be refunded 75 on board credit for the inconvenience. This was not compensation enough. The ship docking fees for Jamacia has essentially been refunded for us. After doing some research upon my return home we went 50 miles off the coast of Miami. A typcial weekend cruise for most people. The tickets for a Carnival cruise to Nassau are $220 base. Not $350, that we paid for the same trip from Miami to Nassau. The staff was great and I actually enjoyed the entertainment, but this trip was not the TRIP I signed up for.
