Great Cruise

Sail Date: June 15, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

The boarding, departure and the service aboard Carnival Destiny was excellent. For an older ship it was in great shape. They could look into cleaning the dinning room windows though. The staff was great. They remembered your names and went to great length to make you happy. We had three adults and two children in a single stateroom with a balcony and felt that accommodations were spacious enough for us. They kept the rooms neat and tidy servicing them twice daily. The staff was never pushy or rude. I highly recommend the itinerary. Half Moon Cay was a great place to visit. It was like an excursion. The private beach was awesome. The Grand Turk snorkeling was spectacular. The Bahamas Atlantis excursion was expensive and fun and perhaps not worth the costs but we still had a great time. If I had to do it again I would probably book another snorkeling excursion in the Bahamas. Regarding the BJ coupons: Recommend you provide less but better quality coupons people will use. (i.e. 15% off any purchase from the ship stores; 10% off your 1st bottle of wine; 10% off one excursion.)

Pros: Staff and Excursions

Cons: Worthless Coupons

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED)? Yes!

Food and Dining
The food and deserts were awesome.
Ship Quality
The stateroom was large enough for my family of three adults and two children under 11. The decor was great for taking family pictures that will last a lifetime.
Service and Staff
The staff was friendly and always tried to remember your names, the drinks you like etc.
Entertainment
We were tired mostly during the evenings due to the daily activities so we did not get to see a lot of the shows. The casino was awesome. I play craps and won a lot of money betting on the don't line. The bingo was as much fun, too few games and not frequent enough.
Children's Programs
The kids really enjoyed these during the day at sea and during some of the evenings. Highly recommend.
Cabin / Stateroom
See above
Nassau, Bahamas
Atlantis is probably over priced. We had a good time, but will probably snorkel if we go back.
Don't Miss: The stores
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
This was just like an excursion. The private beach was awesome.
Don't Miss: Hanging on the beach.
Grand Turk Island
Snorkeling was great here.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling and Jimmy Buffet's place.
