Review summary

We chose to drive to Florida to save money on flights.   We met up with a few friends who had booked last year.  Although the drive was long, it was worth it.  We had so much fun on the ship with our friends and tried to do every activity possible.  The ports of call were really beautiful and we got lucky with the taxi drivers we chose to drive us around.  The food on the ship was great.  I truly don't know why people complain about it.  The service was excellent as well. Those people work really hard and sometimes guests can be rude and ungrateful.  Would definitely do a cruise with Carnival again.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship needs some updating but it's really clean. The guests are dirty...the crew tried really hard to keep up with them.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was a little cramped for four people. I would definitely do an Ocean View cabin next time.

Ship tip

We did not do the onshore excursions. We relied on taxi drivers who took us places and picked us up and it was just as great. If you're on a tight budget, that's the way to go.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

The beach by the cruise port was a bit rocky. Make sure you have watershoes.

Willemstad, Curacao

Learn the history! It's really interesting.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Some of the locals were a little aggressive trying to sell us things and even charge us to walk us over to our destination. We didn't fall for it. The watersports location by the Hyatt was great and affordable and they gave us breaks.

we sailed on the magic back in February. loved the ship. only real complaint was the weather which nobody could control. loved the food and the staff. they work extremely hard for what little pay they get.

We live an our away from New Orleans but are going out of Galveston this time. Just wanted to try the Magic and do something a little different. We took the Freedom out of Galveston last April. The drive wasn't bad, got to see different things along the way! Fun to explore new ships!

I also agree. we've been on two cruises so far with carnival, no real complaints about either of them. service is always top-notch. activities are always fun. food is better than can be expected considering how much they have to prepare. planning on going again in late January on the conquest this time. fascination and magic our first two. hope to see some of you guys there!

I agree with maril. some people are just constant complainers. we just finished an eight night on her three weeks ago.food was great, service was great and the shows were spectacular. comedians were very good. if you don't like carnival go pay twice as much somewhere else an get the same service.
