Review summary
We were very disappointed with this cruise. This was our Honeymoon Vacation and there was Zero excitement about the cruise. Compared to other cruises we've taken in the past, this cruise was Flat and Uninspired! Carnival is usually considered the "party cruise" however, the parties were over before 10:00 p.m.
Issues:
Lack of onboard entertainment - most activities seemed to end before 10:00 p.m. The games felt forced such as Bingo. Bingo was boring and disappointing, not a very good turn out. Many of us were getting annoyed at the dry, lingering words by the host asking everyone to be farm animals, appeard to be unfamiliar with the working the equipment and dragging the game on forever. Bingo is always fun, this is the first time I dreaded the game.
Poker tournaments were hard to get games going (for whatever reason). Unfortunately, the Fun Days as sea were not all that fun or just limited.
Lack/variety of food:
we've both been on other cruises were food was constant, non-stop and good. Room service options were limited, very limited.
Also, we didn't like the feeling of being nickel and dime the entire time. The beverage cards (alcohol and soda) was completely overpriced. I do not drink alcohol but my husband does. In order to get the Alcohol card, we would have had to pay $600 ($300 for him and $300 for me) because we occupied the same room. Anyone 21 and up had to purchase a card whether they drink or not in order to get the "benefit" of having the beverage card.
I purchased the Soda Card which was a big waste of money because none of the sodas were cold so all of the sodas were flat. That was $50 wasted, in addition to the staff constantly walking around trying to up-sell to you while you're eating.
This just sent a bad vibe and has discouraged us from cruising with Carnival again.
On a more positive note the Cruise had some high points such as:
Cleanliness - I give the crew 2 thumbs up on the cleanliness of the cruise.
Movie Night - There were good movie choices. However, on the last night of the cruise "celebration night" they showed Maleficent & Rio 2. Nothing catered to adults.
Itinerary - The ports and excursions were great.
Staff - Always friendly, polite, courteous.
Not sure if Carnival will ever be our Cruise of choice again.
