Review summary

This cruise was about 60% full, did not give you the crowded feeling. There were plenty of seating at the Lido for all meals. And there were always empty lounges on the Lido deck by the pools! No need for people to save chairs! Embarkation and disembarkation was 1000% improved!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were traveling with friends and were on time for our embarkation which moved quickly. Arrived at our designated time of 12:30, went thru check-in with negative antigen tests, boarding passes, passports and were on the ship within 20 minutes. There were crew members available to help you get on elevators to the new muster drill locations to check that off and then helped us on the elevators to our room! This additional attention maybe due to fewer guests but we definitely loved it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had a very good experience in the main dining room, food was good. We could definitely see the additional detail to keeping all of the tables clean. Noted that when entering the Lido buffet there were crew members there to offer face masks for passengers that forgot to wear/bring one. Check out all serving areas on the buffet...we found better options in the far back.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Like all Carnival cruises there is always something going on every day. We did attend some activities, but mostly enjoyed being on the water and seeing the beautiful sea and getting away from home.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Violin music was excellent as well as several of the different venues. Some of the evening performances in the main theater are repeats from our previous cruises (Flick, Motor City, etc.).

Children's Programs

Noticed that the 12 and older venue was opened. Not sure if they needed to be vaxed or not.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Moises and MDR waiter Genesis were excellent. We really enjoyed visits by Zara in the buffet every day to see how our food was and what was happening (usually to cheer on the women when were playing cards.)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Crew is constantly cleaning all areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was very clean Moises did excellent job of cleaning and leaving a towel animal each day for my wife's photo album. The size is a standard Carnival balcony. The location was excellent and did not hear any noises while in the cabin from the lido activities.

Ship tip

Enjoy yourself, go with the flow, after all you are on vacation!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We did not do an excursion but visited the port and all of the shops. Felt like a normal port with the usually vendors. There was a very nice pool in the middle that we will get into next time we visit.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

We had to skip this port of call due to hurricane Grace. We appreciate Carnival for keeping us safe!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast! They disembarked by muster stations, hope they keep it this way!
