Review summary

Great cruise, only complaint is the crowds of such a big ship. Will likely try a smaller ship next.

The majority of the time we had no issues with the cabin. It was a nice space and had two showers which made getting ready for dinner much faster. My kids loved sitting in the window well and watching the waves. We had a strong exhaust smell one night that woke us from our sleep. Another night for about an hour we had a strong sewer smell. Both of those issues were only for a short time.

This is a great chill beach day. The further you walk down the beach to the left, the softer the sand is. We rented two padded chairs and an umbrella for $20 at the shark bite shack down the beach. Only issues: Locals a little pushy, some marijuana smells. Boats pull in right onto the beach to load/unload, they're not very careful or patient so you have to watch kids closely.

Such a pretty island. We took the Kon Tiki boat and went to Honeymoon beach, brought our own snorkel and saw a sea turtle. We had a great time.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

As a family with kids, we really enjoyed this port with the big pool and waterslides.

We really enjoyed our ride. The guides were friendly.

There was only one elevator taking down all people in wheelchairs, people with canes and children in strollers. I had two port workers argue which line I could go in with passport cards for my kids. One of them was trying to help us out, I appreciated her. I heard another port worker give the wrong info and tell a lady with a stroller and a bunch of kids that she was not allowed to use the elevator because they had birth certificates and not passports.

We were on the same cruise and enjoyed it as well. This class of ship is not our favorite, because it feels so crowded. Try the Conquest class.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Just an FYI, keep in mind that the smaller the ship with carnival, the older the ship will be. So be prepared if you go smaller = old ship.
