Review summary

Because our previous cruise on Oceana was on a smaller ship with less than half the people, I was worried that I would be uncomfortable with the larger ship and number of people. It was unfounded. There was plenty of room for everyone. If it wasn't for the location of our cabin, this cruise would have been perfect.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We purchased the Fast to the Fun and was not sorry. We were treated like we were first class. Directions were clearly stated and we were greeted with happy, helpful people.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The buffets had a pretty good assortment of food, and the drinks were creative,

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The only activity I was particularly interested in was relaxing.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Unfortunately, I was not happy with some of the performances. The comedians were funny. The magician was second rate, and the two shows I did attend were so bad (i.e. country singing show and a show called Flick) I had to walk out.

Children's Programs

Did not have children along.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The servers in the dining room at dinner were the best. We fell in love with Roberto. His recommendations were always spot on, and he made us feel like we were special friends. Won't soon forget him. The cabin steward, Junior, was equally as wonderful. Our room was always spotless, but his kindness to us was top notch.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was huge, but it was always clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was clean, unless we messed it. The size was big enough for my husband and I. Good use of space, we had plenty of drawers and closets. The bed was comfortable. However, because of the location of the cabin we didn't sleep well. The cabin is over the Liquid nightclub. It sounded as though the bass was being piped in through our pillows until 3 am. There should really be a notation with rooms 6418, 20, 22, and 24, and I suspect, the odd number cabins across the hall, that these rooms are loud at night.

Ship tip

Pay attention to the layout of the ship before booking a room.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
We had an opportunity to explore Galveston the day before we boarded. Fun town.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

1 out of 5
I will never go back to Jamaica. The locals push way too much for us to buy, buy, buy.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Beautiful. The port, people, water, shops, everything about this place was beautiful. We did the Nautilus Adventure excursion and loved it. It was great.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Cozumel was a great, fun port. So much to see and experience. Loved the shopping. Also loved the excursion. We did the all inclusive Isla Pasion by Twister. By far the best excursion! The twister ride was so much fun. The captain, Charlie, and Alexander, did a fabulous job. The island was paradise. Would go back and do this excursion in a second.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As pleasant and the embarkation. Smooth and efficient.

The cabin itself was great. It's location sucked. It was on the 6th level over the Liquid bar. The music was piped in thru my pillow until 3 am. It's 6418. Hope ur not in it.
