Princess was Amazing! by gcundiff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved the movies under the stars, and the FOOD!  Lobster and giant prawns in the dining room on the 4th night.  We loved the salads, sandwiches and pastry chef creations available 24 hours a day at the International Cafe in the Piazza.  The staff was all extremely friendly and helpful.  Even though we missed one of our favorite ports (Roataan) due to an emergency medical evac of another passenger, the substitute port of Costa Maya was great.

Caribben Princess by Campbell1125

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was just ok.  I enjoyed getting off at the different ports.  Everyone on the cruise was mostly friendly and helpful.  Princess Cruise lines is not really a kid friendly cruise line.  I went with my son who is 10 and when talking with Princes they assured me that there was things for the kids to do.  There were 12 kids total on th cruise and Kidzone was not what was expecting.  As my 10 year old just wanted to site back and play a game and was told that he needed to participate in crafts before it was free time.  The food was just ok.  It was not kid friendly food, and what you had for dinner the night before was on the buffet the next morning for breakfast.  (Really)  So I guess once you go on a Disney Cruise and than go on a princess they do not compare.

The Caribbean on The Caribbean (Princess)! by lorraineh903957

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We love cruising and have found that the Princess line is the one for us.  This was a 14 day Caribbean cruise divided into two parts, a 6 day western section and an 8 day southern stretch.  Friendly staff and prompt service is the number one reason we choose to sail with Princess and this cruise did not disappoint.  Our room steward was the best, always prompt and efficient yet unobtrusive at all times.  We also particularly found the staff at the International Cafe very friendly and anticipated our orders and needs with courtesy.  This attention to the clients' needs was very evident and very welcome.  As far as the ports of call were concerned the only disappointment was the tender into Belize which was more than a half hour ride each way and a long wait at both ends.

Disappointed! by JennyTravels

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

My favorite part of the cruise was getting together with friends and enjoying time spent together in the warm Caribbean sun. Stop!

Caribbean Princess is really showing her age, but more importantly, there are issues that even an updoming refurb ( scheduled for March, 2017) can't fix.  Poor management would be my assessment.  The major areas of disappointment were in the following:

Cleanliness

Food quality and variety

Service issues

Cleanliness was a problem as there were bits of food, dirty cups/dishes all around the ship, both inside and out, left for more than a day. Dirty tables, windows, displays.  There was a lack of antibacterial liquid dispensers throughout the ship and often I found them empty.  Our cabin lacked hot water for 5 days ( only lukewarm to cold) and after 3 reports to maintenance by our cabin steward and 2 visits to the front desk, nothing changed.  Also my husband did develop food poisoning during the last few days of the cruise.

Food Quality and Variety- we were on a 15 day cruise, as offered by Princess, but the menu was the same on a 7 day rotation.  That wouldn't have been too bad, except the choices were not that great.  I am a frequent Princess cruiser and found the food on Caribbean Princess to be below the norm for a Princess cruise.  We were blessed with a great dining room waiter that advised us what was best each evening and he was spot on correct.  He ( Warit ) was delightful and deserves praises!  Horizon Court buffets were boring and of cafeteria quality.

Service- totally hit or miss.  Some servers were very good to bring you beverages, clear tables, etc. while others working in the same area did very little!  This is a managament problem for sure.  I think the automatic gratuitie system perhaps has killed the "incentive" to actually work/serve.  In retrospect, hubby and I should have had the gratuities removed from our account and just tipped those that served us.  We will be prepared to do this on our next cruise, but frankly have never had such a service problem before.  Additionally, the adult only pool ( Aft) was nice BUT there were no pool towels kept near the pool.  One had to secure pool towels from the midship area ( a long way away).  Seriously, a pool with no pool attendant or towels? In the International Cafe area, some servers were just wonderful while others walked around in a daze.

One of the best by Chuckdecker

Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We are seniors. Both on our 70's and my wife was in a wheelchair. Everything was perfect.  The staff from our cabin steward to the dining staff in the Coral to the casino personnel were fantastic. We enjoyed everything and every moment. The food was great. Can't wait to go back again. This was our 7th Princess Cruise.

Fall Cruise by DeJong

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Took this cruise to visit the many ports. Very port intensive. Loved the port stops and fall colours. Food was good. Broadway show was top notch and the violinist was top notch. Theme show in Halifax was different. On the whole we had pretty good weather. This was a bucket list cruise for me and it didn't disappoint. Loved sailing out of Brooklyn. The views from the buffet at lunch were great and at sail away

British Isle cruise June 25, 2016 by Retiredcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We've been back a few weeks now so I finally had to sit and right this review. I had read others prior to this cruise so I hope mine can help as well.

We flew in and stayed overnight in London before the cruise. From Heathrow we arranged for a car to a down town hotel through British Airport Transfers.  I would holy recommend. They were waiting for us, a nice clean car and friendly driver. Four of us with luggage was 66 pounds. Not too bad. To get to the ship he next day we used Blackberry Cars. They we ok. It takes about 2 hrs from London to Southampton.

Boarding was was a breeze. Probably the quickest we've gotten on a ship and we've done numerous. We were able to get to our cabin right away and take care of a few things.

Service on on this ship was outstanding. Everyone we dealt with were friendly, helpful and pleasant. Something new to us on Princess is you no longer have to sign for drinks. Makes service faster as bartenders/waiters don't have to wIt for signatures and I don't end up with a bunch of needless paper.

We we did the anytime dining and always had great service and food. They did seem to repeat some items on the menu but the food was good. There were 4 of us and never had an issue getting seated. Without reservations you may share a table with other people but we didn't mind it on occasions. If we made reservations in the morning then it was just us.

Left ft some tips in he excursion area which I hope helps others looking for inns to do in port.

On on our departure we booked with LondonXAirport from the ride back to the airport. Again much cheaper than the Princess shuttle. Four of us with luggage was 97 pounds.

We have sailed on Caribbean... by PosLattitute

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

We have sailed on Caribbean Princess on two occassions and we love her. This ship represents the best of cruising, in our experience. She is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food.... it's Princess... the food is always great! Caveat... dining room food is great. Buffet is good. Buffet gets crowded and tables can be hard to come by. We take the stairs to combat the extra daily meals, but elevators are hard to come by when needed. Happy Cruising!

A Mixed Bag by chrisu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

The Caribbean Princess was in reasonably good shape for an 11 year old vessel. Our mini-suite cabin was roomy with good closet space. There were some transient odors mid-ship on the atrium stairways. Food was average; we found the buffet choices often more attractive than the anytime dining. We are wine drinkers and found the $7-8 cost for small glasses of average wine to be excessive. We brought on 5 bottles of our own wine in Bayport and paid the $15 corking fee to bring it to the dining room. Entertainment was excellent, but the theater is undersized. Two shows necessitated getting to the theater a half hour before showtime; eventually, they put on a 3rd show. The sea day speakers were interesting but times often conflicted with lunch. Weather events caused the itinerary to be altered. We missed the Wales stop due to rough seas but feel this condition could have been avoided. We took 2 shore excursions that were excellent.

Sailed this ship on a... by GDanishSpots1

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Sailed this ship on a Transatlantic sailing. We had so much fun! Our dinner table mates were the BEST. We also had the best room steward. His name was James and he went way beyond making us welcome. He made me towel animals every night and told me the best times to hit the laundry along with other things we wanted to know.

Princess was a disappointment. We... by jiminnevada

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Princess was a disappointment. We have sailed with Princess many times before and have had a great time. On this CruiseThe atmosphere was boring. If you like quiet pool decks with no drinks being served to your chair and no entertainment Princess is the company. The food and cabins are excellent. The shows are crowded and mediocre at best. Upon talking with customer service I was told this is how Princess is going to be. What a shame. We hope Princess goes back to the way it used to be. Fun and entertaining. Also would like to see more sailings to the Caribbean in September.

Not Responsible for Anything by beegpapa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

DON’T CRUISE WITH PRINCESS!! They have thieves on their staff and do nothing to identify them or terminate them. Your property may be next!

My wife and I embarked on a 10 day cruise on the Caribbean Princess on March 20. 2016. We were very happy with the entire cruise experience – good food, good accommodations and friendly staff. The problem started when we had disembarked and realized a short while later that we had left several zip lock bags of jewelry on the closet shelf of our stateroom. The contents of the bags included watches valued at over $200, James Avery bracelets valued at over $200, and numerous other necklaces bracelets and earrings. The most important valuable piece was a diamond ring valued at $4900.

We immediately contacted Princess to tell them about our loss and they advised us that we would be required to submit a lost and found form and that it would be 4-6 weeks until our goods would be returned. We immediately submitted the form along with the appraisal for the ring and waited impatiently for the response. On May 10, 2016 we were advised by email that Princess had recovered our missing jewelry. They sent a picture of the recovered items and SURPISE! Everything was there except for the $4900 ring.

A subsequent phone call to Princess Cruise Lines yielded no satisfaction. I asked if they were going to investigate to see who the thief was. Response was a curt “No”. I asked if there was a documented chain of custody for our items.  Again “No”.  I asked if there would be any compensation for our loss since it was obviously stolen by one of their employees. Once again “No”.

The rude lady that I spoke with at their lost and found  department was very insistent that Princess is not responsible for loss.  I understand that position, but I at least expected them to give a damn, take corrective action within their company, and maybe offer some level of compensation in cruise credit. THEY DON’T CARE!

You can be assured we will NEVER cruise with Princess again, and I would advise you to avoid them along with ALL of the “Carnival Group” which includes Carnival, Cunard, Seabourn, Holland America, Costa, Aida.

One Star ONLY given because of 2 Great Crew members by debbiepaseur

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

This was the worst cruise ship we've ever been aboard. Thank goodness the Staff were kind and courteous, and the food was good. We had to leave the ship in Nassau because my daughter and I became so violently ill from the airborne fecal matter contaminating our room. The Bathroom Vent had not been opened the first few days and our commode broke on Tuesday. Fortunately the horrid smell wasn't obvious immediately but when it hit 2.5 days out to sea - it was nauseating!! What a nightmare!!

HOWEVER: Major Kudos to Senior Officer Cara Lee Winter and Stephen (?) at the front desk - I think both of these individuals were from South Africa...and their kindness, courtesy and manners are the sole reason I've given this cruise One Star. They should be highly commended for their honesty and great customer service!

Caribbean Princess review by dmstaley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

1.  Ship did not have full power available.  Did not go to Princess Cays because it would take to long to return to Houston because it didn't have full power.

2. Weather prevented ship from going into Key West harbor.

3. Ship is in need of a refurbishing.  Carpets worn, everything looks worn out.

Food and all personnel were perfect.  No problems there.

Ship line gave us a 25% credit towards next cruise.  OK.
