DISAPPOINTING by MikeLongIsland

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

My favorite part of the cruise was all the different ports we stopped at. My favorites were Edinboro, Scotland and Dublin, Ireland.  I could live without the others.

The Caribbean Princess was a BIG disappointment.  The food was losy.  Portions small and not really good.  The staff was excellent.  Our waiters and Stewart's were GREAT.  No lectures aboard ship and there was nothing to do during the day.

Entertainment was very good,  the singers and dancers are A+.  The comedians were B/B+.

Comparing the Regal and Royal are A for everything.  Caribbean is on a C-/C.

we are taking another Princess cruise on Royal from Spain to Ft. Lauderdale.  .

We were on the June... by missys03

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

We were on the June 6 sailing of British Isles. The cruise started off a bit rough with 1st port being cancelled due to weather and not able to leave Southampton until 2:45 am. It was weird not seeing a sail away. No fault of Princess just horrible weather that we would follow for next 10 days. We had a window stateroom and fortunately we had partially obstructed view. The room was a good layout and very clean. Only complaint was not many choices on TV which normally I wouldn't complain about but because of bad weather we were in room more than usual. The food options were pretty good and the pizza and burgers on Lido deck were always good after a day at port. We ended up dining at buffet majority of trip due to not liking menu selections in dining room, but that is all preference. When we did eat in dining room the food and service were good. The buffet was on the small side compared to Royal Princess and many times they would only have one side open which would make finding a table challenging. The food was good quality, but could have been a little warmer. I loved the pb&j bar at dinner. Very fun. Service at buffet was excellent!! The bars were well staffed and service was great. We didn't attend any of the shows due to how crowded they were and we didn't want to have to line up before hand to get seats. Shows really aren't our thing anyways. Weather was pretty bad, but people still bundled up for movies and popcorn on deck. The ports were all great. We only took one Princess excursion in France to beaches of Normandy. We found local excursions better and cheaper. Highly recommend Invergordon Tours with Gavin for Dunrobin Castle Tour and Irish Tours Tickets Limited for the Giant Causeway tour. Way cheaper than princess and everyone on tour bus was from our ship. For the other ports we took trains in and did cities on our own. Very easy to navigate trains and figure out way around cities. Feel like we got a true feeling for the culture and cities. Overall, a good cruise but by far the tiredest I've ever been on a cruise. The port intensive cruising is great, but can be a bit much. I recommend packing layers of clothing because the weather is absolutely crazy and unpredictable.

Food selection limited, food tempature... by SCPO

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Food selection limited, food tempature is warm including cold food items. Staff very friendly. Service very good. Onboard prices very high and not a large selection. ship is clean. Very upset with the dress code in main restaurants, they state it should be dress casual and people show up in jeans t-shirts and running shoes and are allowed to dine. Formal nights are a joke ¾ of the people don't get dressed for it so why bother. No directional signs to help navigate around ship. The only thing this ship has going for it is the staff service

Great time in the British Isles by Cruiser30323245

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The itinerary was the best part of the trip.  The stops provided a glimpse of many locations in London, Ireland, Scotland and Paris.  A great way to see many locations in 12 days.

Plumbing on board seemed to... by u0401749umailutahedu

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Plumbing on board seemed to have problems. Bathrooms often times closed for maintenance and bathroom in room didn't work either. The shows were good but the theater was small so people had to stand to watch. Buffet was better than other ships buffets. Dining room staff was excellent and food was okay. Not a lot of entertainment on board.

Around Britain Cruise by CasJen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This was our first cruise.

The only negative was the price of the ship's excursions. We found online comparable or better tours that were of much better value.

This cruise will be the basis of comparison for any future cruises.

Fun Fun Fun by alexisrex

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Overall - this cruise was wonderful! We enjoyed ourselves very much. We booked completely through Princess and it was worth the cost. The logistics of our cruise went well. We booked a hotel in London for three days prior to our cruise, and all of the arrangements were handled. I would book through Princess again. Almost all the shore excursions were worth the money but one. We did a small group excursion but the guide was not good. Only guide we did not tip. My only big disappointment was the food on the ship. We tried several dinning options and it was just okay. This is a great itinerary and I highly recommend this trip. Because of the sea conditions, we were unable to go to Kirkwall, but that was fine. The cruise was still great. Also, the ship is showing its age. Do not expect super fancy but it does its job!

Review of trip. by judkub1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We were not able to go to Normandy because of the strike in Paris.  I feel that I should have gotten a credit towards a next cruise like I did in New Zealand in 2016 when we could not get into Fjoirdland and Dunedin because of the weather.  I don't see any difference between the two.

Missed France Port Without ANY Compensation by LenaK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Most of the cruise was enjoyable, however, the day before sailing for a planned port of call to Le Havre the itinerary was changed to cancel the call because of a port workers strike. Research has shown us that the possibility of this strike should have be known to Princess well in advance of this cruise. I feel this information was withheld from us until the day before the planned stop.

No compensation, voucher, or ship credit was even offered as an apology for this disappointing change.

Good value with a whirlwind finish by holmgrencarl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

After missing embarkation at Fort Lauderdale, due to bad weather, I boarded in Bermuda with the help of Princess.

I very much enjoyed the long string of sea days, although the weather was only 50-60 degrees with intermittent rain.  The last four days were quite hectic because of early morning lengthy shore excursions and a number of time changes.

The ship is better than most other Princess vessels for comfort, crew friendliness/efficiency, and service. The food in the dining rooms was good for the most part, but the buffet servings were much better than lukewarm.  Pies and desserts containing pastry were quite tough.

The entertainment was quite good and having three shows/nite allowed for more seating.

Food was mediocre in the buffet, better in the dining rooms and very well presented at the Crown Grill by rwc52278

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

The entire ship's staff was top notch, however, Roney and Verdran at Churchhill's bar were outstanding. The food for the most part was missing that little something special, like it was a bit flat.

The rooms as expected were small, but out cabin steward, Romey, did an outstanding job,

There was a possible low pressure area/storm ahead and our captain slowed the ship down to try and avoid it.

Due to storms in Atlanta the day prior to departure, all air flights from Atlanta were screwed up, my bags made it to Ft. Lauderdale but I didn't.

A very sad experience by StevieandDesi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We boarded your cruise hoping for a experience of a lifetime.  We had come on board with two other couples of which we had spent 3 nights in Miami with prior to celebrate a girlfriends 50th birthday.

First night in by 4am I had a tummy bug (no one else in the group had this so I put it down to food poisoning) so first day at sea was spent in my cabin recovering. That night my partner goes down with a virus (again no one else in the group got sick) so to the medical centre the next day and a very expensive medical bill later we are put into quarantine due to my condition still not improved and my partner being diagnosed with Influenza A.  Fortunately a doctors stamp meant we could cancel our excursions as it ended out we lost all opportunity from going on any of these.  We finally had the quarantine lifted on the day we arrived in cozumel but my partner was still not feeling well enough to disembark!  Our last day was at sea so it was spent quietly as my partners stomach was not doing well from taking the Tamiflu.  So overall a dreadful experience.  Now we get that these things happen but is still hard to fathom how we both got so ill when we are both are very fit and healthy people and our friends did not fall sick (so we cant have caught anything prior).  But to add salt to the wound we left a brand new watch in our safe in our room, it was my partners birthday present, we notified your american office as soon as we were back in New Zealand as we aware the boat was docked for upgrade and thought it could be actioned immediately....but no it was referred to the Australia branch and we are still waiting (14 days) later to have any response to our inquiry.  This I do find totally unacceptable.

On a positive note I do want to say the staff you had on the Cruise were impeccable and they certainly deserve there gratuity!  They certainly made things easier for us under the circumstances so a big thank you to them.

Disappointed. by dlacey69

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was very disappointing after cruising last year on Royal Caribbean. We chose this cruise because of the destinations, wanting to add new places. Last year we went only to Cozumel. The destinations were great. Beautiful. The cruise itself let much to be desired. Not a lot to do onboard. Felt like we were on a retirement home cruise.

Not Impressed with Princess by winemeup

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Unfortunately this was the last sailing date for the Caribbean Princess before going to dry dock and the wear and tear of the ship was showing.  They started replacing the hallway carpeting in front of my stateroom during the cruise making it very inconvenient for passengers.  AND we had no water in our cabin for most of one day and were unable to shower or flush the toilets!  The customer service desk really didn't seem to care when I mentioned my displeasure. Not to mention the crew members just didn't seem very friendly or accommodating.  i witnessed multiple incidents where a manger was reprimanding a crew member in public.  This was the first time i cruised on Princess and after my experience may be my last.

The ship had some obvious... by gmiles3377

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

The ship had some obvious issues. Our bathroom had leaks and there were multiple leaks throughout the ship. Towards the end of the cruise, the crew were becoming lazy and rude. Not much for the younger kids to do on the ship. I would cruise with Princess again, but only after the kids were grown.

Pretty Good Trip by smidghams

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is due for an update and good cleaning.  The room staff was wonderful! Loved having the 8 days. Food and entertainment very good. Casino staff a little unfriendly.  Lines for the dining room very long and picture prices are very high.  Loved the food at the International Cafe. The morning donuts were a very nice treat.

Fully Relaxed by freedomlass

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We always love to cruise with Princess as we generally know what to expect, although this is a lovely ship (in need of the up coming refurb) we did feel in comparison to others that it was cramped, the Atrium didn't have that special 'sparkle' we found in others like Crown, Sea and Island, this area too felt quite small compared to the others, but the cleanliness was still spot on, the food quality in most part was excellent especially the Crown Grill, we only generally treat ourselves just once but went twice this time, the Fillet Minon was just mouth watering, in the MDR we did think that the menu had seen some cut backs not as much choice, and I was disappointed to see that one of my fav meals that could be had as starter or main was no longer served in a cheese basket........I had so been looking forward to this too, we also noticed a few little cut backs in other areas, our cabin only 1 tube of moisturizer were there used to be other little pots of things and no box of tissues or toweling robe, we could request them from our cabin steward but they used to be just there, not as many staff walking around to take drink orders on deck and those that were there hardly ever went up to the higher decks, overall though we still thoroughly our cruise 99%Love
