the worst cruise of my lifetime. It was a dangerous ship filled with sewer gas and only one engine, and the rudest Princess employees I have ever experienced. They didn't care. Bad food and stupid activities.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
embarkation was slow since Princess doesn't have enough wheelchairs for their impaired passengers so we had to wait a long time just to get a wheelchair
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
food extremely mediocre. meat was tough and fish was consistently almost raw and lacking flavor. the buffet is a better bet. Many times I could not eat my food and had to return it. I often left the dining room hungry. They can't even cook a fried egg. I ordered it over - medium and the white was half raw...gross...eggs are pretty fundamental and easy to cook...no excuse for a professional kitchen.
It was very difficult to get a glass of water for those of us that drink a lot of water and take medication. Do yourself a favor and buy a ton of bottled water before the cruise and have it delivered to your room, but know that their refrigerators don't work so they are just a few degrees cooler than the room!!
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
hideous non-existent activities. Many passengers complained about a lack of activities, and they were not wrong. Boring and stupid activities planned, and ones planned so stupid and cheap for Princess, eg. ring toss and paper cup games - really? For adults and for the fare they charge...ring toss?
The only thing worth doing is the lotus spa...great employees and great services from hair to massage. It was the highlight of the trip, but the broken plumbing and the sewer gas smell in the locker room and massage waiting area killed the mood and was disgusting to breathe.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
not good
Children's Programs
no children traveling
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
This is the only cruise I have ever been on where the staff were openly rude, unhappy, and argued with passengers - It was appalling. It was clear they did not care or want to be there. The spa employees were very nice, however.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
dirty, old, broken down, ship, in great need of being totally scrapped. They had only one engine working out of two and we were never told that until on board, and they had problems with the lighting, and the AC because they needed to pull the power from those utilities to compensate for missing one engine.
Most importantly, there was a huge methane/sewage gas problem. Broken pipes, plumbing blowout on entire floors, sewage smell throughout ship and in cabins, many bathrooms so smelly that I couldn't use them. Also, sewer gas is toxic and combustible, and I had multiple levels of authority lie to me when I reported it in my cabin trying to convince me that it wasn't a sewer problem which is a lie. this ship needs to go to the scrap yard, all the renovations they did must have been mostly cosmetic because functionally the ship was damaged.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
hideously small, shower so small that a normal size person couldn't fit in it. water was dangerously scalding hot and was that way for whole cruise. It would burn you. mechanics were unable to fix, had to shower in spa.
Ship tip
NEVER will I sail with Princess ever again, and this ship is disgusting and the service the worst I have ever been subjected to on or off land. If I did my job the way these princess employees did theirs I would be fired. Do yourself a favor and stay away! Hideous waste of money and time.
Been on Princess several times, nice cruise ship. Life's too short, try to enjoy. Do new things, meet new people and be adventurous. Sometimes attitude is eveything!
We were on this ship in February 2015 and it sucked. Just like what this post said, except for the sewer smell. We almost wrote Princess off but got a good deal for April this year on the Crown Princess. It was outstanding and completely the opposite. We now have a Panama Canal cruise booked for April 2018 on the Coral Princess, and have been told its Great also. Sorry you had a shitty cruise, but it would seem all ships and not equal.
I was on this ship 6 months ago and liked it. The passengers were way more rude than the staff was. It is an older ship but it still looks good. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it.
