we just returned from a 7 day cruise to eastern caribbean from Ft. Lauderdale on the Caribbean Princess. We have cruised numerous times before, but never Princess. Check-in was a breeze. It was nice to be greeted on the ship by staff, many of whom were wearing white gloves and ready to assist in any way. Made our way to our staterooms (2 mini=suites side by side) and were somewhat taken aback by the condition of them. Only 4 years old and really could use a re-furbishing already. Stepped out onto the balcony only to find it under 3 inches of water that through the course of the day managed to seep into the stateroom almost to the first bed. In all fairness, there had been a deluge earlier that day, however, 2 days later, the balcony was still wet, and didn't dry out until our first full day of sun. When it was dry, the balcony was very nice. A slight misrepresentation by the Princess agents who told us that although our suites were not connecting, we could ask the room steward to remove the divider between the balconies to create one huge balcony. This was not the case, the steward was able to open a "door" between the rooms, however, there was no way to keep the door from clanging back and forth constantly. The steward finally rigged up a tie using the tie from one of the robes. On the plus side, the food was much better than other cruises we have been on (3 in the past 9 monthe) and we don't really go to eat. The entire staff was first class all the way. Helpful and attentive. Our 16 year old daugher was bored the entire time ( no other kids her age on board) and other than the casino, there was little for our 21 year old son to do. Probably would not recommend this cuise line for 50 somethings with older kids, just not enough going on. My 80 year old mother thought it was the perfect trip.

Pros: tood was better than most

Cons: for only 4 years old, staterooms (mini-suites) were pretty beat up
