Review summary

I would like to say firstly we really enjoyed our first cruise. And would definitely cruise again. Although I have a few bad points . Our first encounter was with the customer service desk. They where very rude and dismisive regarding our luggage. We had to wait nearly 5 1/2 hours of our cases. We did take a change of clothes etc. But we didn't take our swimwear and had a trip booked for 8am the next day. The excursion crew where not available to advise us further. The other bug bear was black tie nights. We ended up having to cancel our Pre booked restaurants as my partner took a suit and waistcoat but no tie. Apparently this wasn't good enough !!! . To make it worse had to pay extra for a Meal in the other 3 restaurants or eat in the buffet. Not happy at all. Again the service desk staff where very rude. The rest of the staff where great. I would not cruise with P&O

Why didnā€™t he just buy a tie onboard?

Follow the rules laid down by the ship and you won't have a problem. Simple as that!

Rule of cruising: Read every single detail. Dress codes are very clearly printed online and on lots of the booklets you get sent leading up to the cruise. Rules are rules and itā€™s not their fault if you didnā€™t take the time to address them and you clearly suffered the consequences of that.

The rules are made and we abide by them. We like the standard thatā€™s why we go

Work2sail I have noticed you have an opinion on everything and anyone who makes a comment !!!!. I think you are missing the point. We did know the expectations and also told by P&O that he didn't have to wear a tie. The main point is we had to cancel pre booked meals which was paid for in advance. And not given an option. We enjoyed our cruise but think P&0 need to get with the times and train their customer service staff

Agree it is clearly stated- my husband never wears a suit but went out and bought one so we followed the dress code..... not pompous at all though just down to earth people who read the very clear expectations beforehand

The point is its what the cruise line expects and it is clearly stated. I wear a tie every day but abide by thier expectations for eating in the mdr. You made your choice so just suck it up

The point being. Why should we buy a tie !!! My partner wears a suit every day. We paid 4,500 for this holiday to be told what to wear and where we can eat!! . And further more it was the pompus people pretending to be some thing they are not.
