Review summary

Overall for our first cruise we really enjoyed it and are planning on booking another one. Maybe wouldn’t leave from Southampton again as effectively lost 4 days of the holiday as weather bad going over the Bay of Biscay and was quite rough. Other than that loved it.

Onboard Activities

Felt the activities for my son who is 18 but very active didn’t really have much to do and was quite bored at times. Basketball was scheduled but never took place as nobody else turned up or it was too wet or windy. Definately needed more things for teenagers

I enjoyed the days at see but would much preferred it if the weather was better that way we could at least have got out on deck, in the pool etc but we had wind and rain so it did feel a bit like being stuck in. My son is also very active and there was limited things for him to do when the weather was poor. Maybe again another ship with other things on it would be different.

With regard to “losing days of your holiday” I guess it’s all down to point of view. From my perspective, I love sea days as a chance to really unwind before the busy part of the cruise with a different port every day. For me enjoying being on the ship is as much (if not more) part of the holiday as the destinations. Obviously much nicer if it’s calm though!!! I’ve had beautiful crossings if The Bay and awful ones, so completely understand it’s no fun at all if you are feeling ill :-(

Some people like the sea choppy, I don’t see the point when it’s taking days off your holiday. My son was really sick and miserable for 4 days. That’s a lot of days to loose when you’ve paid a lot of money for a holiday. Each to their own though
