This is a small ship and is not as stable in open waters as other newer ships. There is a positive with it being smaller and that is you find your way around easily and run into other persons from the group you are traveling with. There are few things for younger children to do on this boat. Children's Club is not the same as other RCCL clubs. This cruise has prompted us to try other lines again. When booking it was explained that this is a great, small ship with extra "services" since the entertainment is lower. I did not find that.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth though a bit unorganized once you finalized your paperwork.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
If you have been on a newer ship, the food and drinks are a step down. There are many top shelf drinks not on this ship and food was a bit lower on the experience scale.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The family pool is small and a tiny water slide is closed most of the time. The adult pool was even smaller and HOT in the Solarium. There is a rock wall and the staff was awesome. If you have smaller children (ours ranged from 6-13) there is little for them to do to be entertained. The activities were 2 and they were geared toward girls. We have all boys. There were making paper flowers and cupcake decorating. The Ocean Club was disappointing. They were not allowed to do anything but watch Rapunzel and sit on a couch or the staff would "kiss them". We did not return after that night. There were computers to play on that were never turned on. There were few shows at the theater and only 4 movies that showed. One show per day in the theater. 2 were old Christmas shows, one horror film (The Quiet Place) and the adult movie Searching. We had hoped there would be some offerings for the kids. They were bored. The 13 year old boy enjoyed playing basketball. This is not our first RCCL sailing and the kids always love going. This time they were disappointed that they did not have fun like they normally do.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
There were 2 stage shows. The first was a Christmas music show and it seemed they had just thrown it together. We did not go to the second show. There were floating bands that played nightly in the RBar. They were good. The DJ was interesting in the lounge as he played the same music regardless of "theme" for the night.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
Please see area regarding entertainment. Children's entertainment was poor. It was cute that they had Santa on the boat.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
For the most part, service was exceptional excepting the Guest Services personnel. They were the least accommodating or friendly which is ironic.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This is an older ship and quite small. The plus is that you know your way around it quickly. Everything was in order and maintained. Now since it was older I am guessing it does not have sophisticated stabilizers. The boat rocked quite well. Probably not the best first boat if you have not sailed before.
This port was great though it was a very unseasonably cold and windy day. We had a water excursion planned and attended it prior to walking the town. RCCL staff told us we could cancel and be refunded since the seas were rough and water cold. Excursion staff told us that it was a nice, calm area we would go to. That was not so true...
