Review summary

This is our fourth cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas out of Tampa.   We love it!  The ship has everything to offer that the larger ships do without getting a lost feeling or overwhelmed feeling.  We like the "family" feeling.  The cruise staff remembers your name and treats you like a celebrity.  We have sailed at other ports and the Tampa port is the best.  They get you on the ship quickly and disembarkation is quick.  We were surprised by the efficiency of the Royal Caribbean crew members and staff at the port.  We like the fact that every section of the ship is easy access to.  The ship is well maintained and the crew is and should be proud of their vessel.

We like the fact that no matter how busy a crew member can appear, they are never too busy to talk to you.  The crew members are well spoken and well educated.  They are hard workers.  Our stateroom attendants even remembered our names from our previous sailings (remember this is our fourth sailing with Brilliance)!

Shore excursions are many and great variety.  They go into detail in regards to recommended age groups, times, exercise level.  The prices are very reasonable!  You do feel safe with a Royal Caribbean excursion.  I would highly recommend any excursion.

Quite a variety of food choices on the ship.  Specialty restaurants are worth the minimal fee.  Do take a moment to enjoy the music playing outside the specialty restaurants.

There is so much to do on this ship.  I would highly recommend this ship.  The 4 night cruise is enough for a small vacation but we enjoy that extra night with the 5 night cruise.  What makes us keep coming back to the ship is the crew members.  They treat you like family.  I would highly recommend Royal Caribbean and especially the Brilliance of the Seas without reservation.

Our 7022 stateroom attendant, Nazaire Souvenir. He did an Excellent job! Always attentive to our needs. Our stateroom was extremely clean and always in a timely manner. He is wonderful! Our waiter at Giovanni's, Jayson Banate, spolied us! He is very attentive to our food preferences. Caroline Luzze from Windjammer was so friendly! She is a gem! Very personable! Our other stateroom attendants that remembered us. They always said hello and took time to talk to us. We know them from previous sailings and they treat us like family: Jules Bolivar from Haiti, Foster Allen from St Vincent, Dwight Burnett from St Vincent, Damiao Ferrao from India. We met Arnold from the Philippines (he was working on the 7th floor). We passed Arnold in the hallway and he had this huge smile and was always happy to see us!

Your stateroom attendant will take great care of you. Remember they work long long hours. They are well spoken and educated. You will learn a lot from them. Most of them have traveled all over the world. I usually leave a tip for them everyday (yes everyday ) with a small candy or snack that I bring from home. A small bag of M&Ms or Snickers is appreciated as well as a small tip. The daily gratuity is split among all members of the crew. So your stateroom attendant gets a percentage of that daily gratuity. Leaving an additional cash tip and snack everyday is appreciated by the stateroom attendant. And sometimes I leave phone cards too for them. They appreciate it very much.

Ship tip

If you eat at the specialty restaurants, try to go early. You can get a window seat & sometimes see a pod of dolphins swimming by the ship. On your first night, if you eat at Giovanni's at 6pm, you will get great views of the Brilliance sailing under the Sunshine Bridge (in Tampa) & the pilot boat

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

Boarding and disembarkation was speedy. The best of all the ports I have sailed from. There is a cost effective and safe parking area just beyond the "Cruise parking" building. You can save almost 50%! Just look for the guys with the signs in the middle of the street. It is beyond the Cruise parking building.

George Town, Grand Cayman

The Trolley tour was very informative. Great price and done in less than 1.5 hours. You can enjoy the rest of the day exploring the town.

Cozumel, Mexico

Shopping at downtown better. Take the taxi. Don't buy from the vendors at the port. They are scam artists. We did the dolphin tour which was amazing! And the Cozumel Highlights Island tour, which I highly recommend. Air conditioned bus!
