Review summary

As this was a repositioning cruise it was reasonable value. Food average, entertainment was OK. Destinations in Caribbean were good, would have liked to have visited Azores. As the cruise was sold as a fly cruise, the ship was 100% British nationals, we prefer mixed nationalities when cruising. Probably will not be doing P & O again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Direct transfer from Plane to Cruise port was very good.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Only dined in the main dining for for dinner (not speciality), food was variable, not always hot. Drinks were good value relative to other cruise lines.

Brodie's

2 out of 5

The seating in this bar is very uncomfortable. Spent a lot of time here as lots of activities were staged here. Lots of high bar stools, other seating needs refurbishing.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Lectures and quizzes were well attended and very good.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Average standard compared to other cruise lines.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff worked very hard.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is looking a little tired, a number of leaks noted with driers being used on carpets.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Good size, good location, well maintained. Like tea and coffee making facilities. TV system needs updating.

Ports of call

Bridgetown, Barbados

4 out of 5
Nice beaches within easy reach by taxi.

Castries, St. Lucia

3 out of 5
Went to Reduit beach, got lots of hassle on beach. Taxis and chairs all same price, more expensive than barbados.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

3 out of 5
Did ships excursion to Nevis, involved hour ferry to and from the island, quite interesting but was expensive for what we did.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten Did not visit port

Went to Antigua instead due to storm damage.

Ponta Delgada, Azores Did not visit port

P & O cancelled due insufficient supplies to cross the Atlantic so we had to go back to Barbados to get more supplies. Meaning eight continuous sea days instead of 5 and 3. Very disappointing as we would not have taken this cruise if had known beforehand. Apparently we heard onboard this port is often skipped for various reasons. In the end we had to call in here after midnight to drop off some sick passengers,

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Bused to Gatwick Airport straight from Ship which was very smooth.

Never been on a cruise with P & O where there have not been mixed nationalities. Look at our cruise history and h you'll understand, why we like p and o.
