Pleasant but oversold in brochure

Sail Date: August 01, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

The brochure leads you to believe this is exceptional but it isn't. Decor is above average and it is generally clean. Some service is excellent but others average as prepaid tips give room staff no incentive. Overhead charges were increased between booling and sailing which is poor. The ship looked tired in places in some furnishings in the public areas and drinks machines. Customer service staff were excellent always willing to give independent advice without over selling the tours. Senior staff ineffective as disruptive French children were not dealt with until day 13 of the trip. This shio is not large enough or have sufficient facilities for children.

Pros: Food excellent, itinery good, helpful on destinations without pushing tours

Cons: Small room, inadequate seating, poor entertainment

Recommends Azamara Quest (RETIRED) 578? No.

Ship Quality
Better than average but not as expected or advertised. Decor discrete. Cleanliness genrally good with some exceptions.
The poorest we have experienced. Some evenings cruise staff entertained. Set piece performances were good but visiting entertainers were mediocre. No comedy at all or entertaining lectures. One history lecturer that was difficult to follow
Cabin / Stateroom
Overall comfort and location good but very small and with inadequate drawer space. No bath only shower. very clean
Service and Staff
Staff were good but not exceptional as sold in the brochure
Food and Dining
Very good. Flexible dining time meant a surge at certain times but if these were avoided the service was superb. Speciality restaurants wanted additional tips which was poor.
