My 75 year birthday cruise by jdrx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Best part=

New ship, very comfortable, excellent food at most of your restaurants

dedicated serving personnel in most public areas Impeccable cleanliness.

What could use some improvement=

When I purchased  my cruise ,I stated that it was my birthday cruise and I was told that there would be a special treatment for these occasions. On the October 22 diner, we were with some friends waiting to see what it was  but nothing happened from your personnel. There most have been a communication problem.

Stateroom computerised account. Very difficult to follow with many mistakes

I had to go 2 times to Customer Service to rectify my report. Some attendants were having difficulty to be understood in English and the general attitude was not the greatest .My feeling is that being a new ship, some employees  need  more training on the job. I have been in many cruises mainly on celebrity cruise line and I could feel this lack of experience.

6PM seating. I did ask for it because of my wife medical condition. Unfortunately

I was booked at 8.30 PM.I had a hard time to change for 6.PM.I was finally able

to get between 5PM an 6PM after many request .I could feel that it was difficult for the booking personnel to change booking.

Too crowed, Small Dinning room, Three out of four restaurants were offering bad quality of foods.

same breakfast every day. Bad juice taste like water. Long lines on every food station. slow refill when the cream finished on the coffee station. Only two flavor of ice cream.

Would Definitely Do it Again by bsiebert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The ship was great. Had a nice layout and the Solarium was a great use of space.  Overall the food was pretty good.  Silk was our favorite of the complimentary restaurants.  If you are looking for a gourmet experience, opt for one of the fee based options.  We found the crew to be very friendly and always willing to accommodate our needs.

Our biggest criticism was that the live shows were not very good.  The Gift was just weird, it jumped all over and did not stick to any overriding theme.  Spectra's Cabaret was only slightly better.  Again they tried to pack too many ideas into a short show and the result is an odd mix that doesn't work very well.  We skipped We Will Rock You because of our poor experience with the first two.

WOW!!! by sterner690

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

There is nothing that can be changed or improved. What wonderful service, food, shows, etc., etc.You can do as much or little as you choose. Go out to eat or call for room service. Go to shows or stay in for the night. What more could you ask for.

Did Not Exceed Expectations by KyTnFrank

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I thought this would be a great trip on this ship and I must say I am disappointed. I went on a smaller ship before and did not experience the rockiness that I experienced on this ship. The captain was going the max speed and it was not like the sea was choppy. Therefore we were always feeling the boat rock. The food was horrible. I think since it's such a large ship not everything is freshly made. The dynamic dinning is horrible although we had the same wait staff it was still difficult and the food options were not great. The activities were ok but if they had a sale it looked like Black Friday with all the people in the middle of deck 4. Bermuda was beautiful but I would not recommend doing the snorkel park which we paid $60 for! It was over crowded and it's in a terrible location, you can still enter the park and pay $15 and lay out with a blanket and call it a day. I would suggest just taking a mini bus to Horseshoe beach for $7 on a mini bus versus booking through the cruise. The night glass bottom boat was ok if your into history but you can't really see the shipwreck they take you to see. That was another waste of $60

Very Disappointing! by lrudy56

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The best part of our cruise was our cabin steward, Ashley .   He was Wonderful!  The ship seemed like it was very understaffed.  Usually bartenders are always available but not on this ship.  There were dirty dishes stacked up in plastic containers around the ship and paper towels always falling out on the floor where the hand washing sinks are.  We didn't know that Royal Caribbean was going to choose our dining room and time of dining so we missed our first dining room dinner.  The "Grande" dining room was very crowded, tables so close together.  Soda machines weren't working sometimes which was frustrating since we paid for the drink package .   Check-in was very fast and easy .  Cabin very clean and staff very friendly.  The ship rocked a lot for the sea being pretty calm.

bad cruise by sf1212

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

the best part of the cruise was dining in the restaurants especially the Grande.

Otherwise, this cruise was not good. First of all, our stateroom attendant was cold and always in a rush to get done. The shore excusions were a rip -off as they overcharged and failed to deliver what was posted. We ran into very rude personnel. The cruise director Dru was not nice to my ife. She was stuck in an elevator for about seven minutes and when she asked I'm about it his response was "what do ou want me to do about it" This was highly inappropriate response. We were very upset about this. Also, there are too many passengers. At times we felt lik cattle waiting for the stampede.

First time cruising and I'm hooked! by gbennett329

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

It's hard to select MY FAVORITE thing.  It was my first cruise.  I was told to bring books to read.  The Anthem had so many events, I didn't have much time to read.  I wasn't stressed and it was OK to be a few minutes late for dinner.  We had lots of fun.  The Solarium was adults only, which was nice.  I bought the Ultimate Drink Package which allowed me to have ANY type of drink anytime I wanted.  This included alcohol as well as soft drinks.  It was nice NOT to have to concern myself with the cost of anything from water to cocktails.  On our downtime, we played in the arcade, rode bumper cars and roller skated.

Entertainment is the best by runqueen10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My favorite part of cruise was the entertainment, Royal Caribbean has always been good about have the best.  We will rock you should be on broadway.

I wish we had 3 days in Bermuda, I liked Oasis of the seas better then Anthem.

The worst part about the cruise was TV - We couldn't watch the Eagles game, they only had ESPN - they should have the NFL network - it brings people together, only the trip was really a deal, I don't need to go on Anthem.

The staff, the service, the ship was clean...

Great Cruise! by cbowers184

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Everything was terrific.   The cabins were spacious (for a cruise ship);  the food was great;  customer service was excellent.   I would recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone.   By the way, we loved the sushi making class!

Review on Anthem of the Seas by zzou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The best part is dining. The ship provides variety of excellent food and service. The worst part is RC Shuttle transportation from pier to EWR airport. Waited for 30 minutes to leave pier. The driver, Tom, didn't have knowledge with how terminals, airlines and destinations were allocated. The worst of all, he damaged our NEW Samsonite suitcase by grinding it out  with another suitcase on the top of it, on the bus floor. We will never ever take RC Shuttle again!!!

Viaje regular by tattywillie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The cruise is very modern but severely limits. The book every day in the dining room is not good and not like us. Eliminate formal nights was wrong, and one is used. While some people are very formal and sport are other people feel outside group. The shows are in times that do not match meals and happy hour time Diamond club. Everything is automated ... And those who do not know much? On the contrary, the captain was excellent, every day walking throughout the ship waving people.

All meals, food, and services were great. by Cruiser80119681

We especially enjoyed dining times with our new friends.  The entertainment was diverse and excellent.

Some of the wait time and the crowds, although understandable, we're inconvenient.

Not up to Royal Caribbean Standards by gpapa8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Ship had some fantastic features, like Rip Cord, and North Star, and the Two 70 Room, but only two banks of elevators on this huge ship.  Not convenient, and always over crowded.  Food and service both disappointing compared to previous RCCL cruises we have taken.

Frustration by mumanddadad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We paid $2942.84 for two, paid $232.99 for Insurance, one week before sailing I had emergency surgery for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, my wife filed all the forms for the insurance, we spoke to several representatives but as of this date we have not received our refund, we have had to pay interest to our credit card company. We are platinum members and would appreciate any assistance.  George Fenwick
