Anthem Review by johnhbrown34

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The ship is very nice and has nice amenities. I would recommend that your plan your activities prior to your cruise to make sure you are able to attend all the activities on board. The food was not great at all. They need one of these celebrity chefs to plan their menus at the complimentary restaurants. The Windjammer continued to serve the same food over and over again.

Worst cruise ever by melissaredderse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

I will never get on Royal Caribbean ever again!  No customer service.  Had to fight tooth and nail to fix their poor pre dining booking issues.... terrible childcare staff!  They made the kids do push ups... carnivals food is better!  I could fill this whole box with more... I suggest you pick another cruise line!

cruise staff very friendly and helpful.  Captain out and about and accessible.  Anthem is a very large ship so despite a full capacity it never seemed crowded.  The casino is VERY small by anyone's standards, and if you play craps the odds are DEPLORABLE.  the food is decent especially in the Grand and Chops, though we did have a good meal at Jamie's Italian on our second visit there. There are not many specialty restaurants, so think twice before selecting a dining package.  Very nice and fun free options like the north star and free fly, reservations required.  Also recommend placing your dining reservations BEFORE boarding as lines are L O N G and S L O W.  Very slow on boarding process as well.  We sat in line in our car for about 1 hour despite having a reservation for arrival time.  Once through the car line though things moved VERY quickly.  Disembarkation was easy for us as we used the self carry option.    Free entertainment was just so so except for the guitar player from their pay for, Rock of Ages show (his last show was on our cruise so sadly others will be denied his magnificence). The solarium is a must for adults.  Wish every ship had this available. The piped in music was a little loud and too current for my fast.

Plenty of Activities if you can get to them by Orrin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

I feel like the ship offered a great deal of things to do, however, even with the Aquanauts camp for my toddler I felt a bit disconnected from it all. I thought that because I had two toddlers with me making a set dinner time would work against us. Who can plan for dinner with two toddlers? What ended up happening, I was turned away a few times when I was finally free to have dinner on my own. Nice ship overall. Turned off by the full gratuity fee charged for a 3 and 2 year old...a bit blindsided.

An Excellent First. Time Experience! by sniper200646

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The food , Entertainment,  and the Service was just excellent,  for my first time on a cruise. It was like being a kid in a big building ! The food was just excellent,  except for the American Icon grill and Jamies Italian grill. The food from both restaurants was good , but the service was a bit low on the personal level.

The shows were exciting to watch, the comedians hilarious .

The staff did their best to provide great guest service.

My favorite part of the cruise is the room balcony and upper deck.

I love just walking on the ship and enjoyed the creativity of decorations around.

Wall lamps, close to the head, when sleeping need to be removed.

It is not safe.

Beautiful ship and a great crew and staff by Cruiser27994870

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

My favorite part of the cruise was the wonderful staff and the people I met on board.  The entertainment was good but could have been a little better. I would recommend bringing back the ice skating performances.  Food in the Windjammer could be improved, especially the dinner menu.  The food in Coastal Kitchen was excellent but only the upper Crown & Anchor guests (who were in a suite) were allowed to eat there.  The restaurants were okay but not as good as the Coastal Kitchen.  Michael's Pub is delightful and loved it.  Loved the service and reminded me of a real Irish pub.  Would I recommend this cruise, yes.  The staff and crew made this a really delightful vacation cruise.

Anthem of the Seas -12 night western Caribbean by atthebarn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening dining experiences in the various restaurants. Our waiter ,Gedde and server,Amiado were exceptional in their service to us and our table companions. They showed similar service to the other tables that they were assigned. The ship is well appointed however seating for disabled folks at poolside was limited. There was a multitude of folks in wheelchairs and those utilizing walkers who could not easily maneuver in the low deck chairs. Our cabin steward, Jose, was exceptional and kept our room immaculate.

Beautiful ship by jobrav4356

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Anthem of the Seas is a beautiful and modern ship. I travelled with my husband and son and we enjoyed the trip immensely. Granted that I did not visit any of the Specialty Dining Venues where you have to pay extra, but the  food at the venues included in the cruise package for the Dynamic dinner dining option was disappointing.  The only exception was the food in the Grande which was decent. This was the first RCL cruise that we have taken that we did not enjoy the food.

Embarkation and disembarkation were excellent.

Entertainment was also mediocre and this may have been a result of the futuristic dimension of the shows which were lost on a middle-aged woman.

The staff were very professional, nice and helpful.

We intend to travel on this beautiful ship again.

Very positive experience by mamabear123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I booked this cruise Aug. 2015 so it was a long wait and at times almost cancelled it based on so many negative reviews I had read while planning our trip. What I learned was to weigh out the negative reviews with positive. Some people will gripe about any little thing. From the moment we got out of the van to check in until we got off the ship was absolutely great! Organized, friendly and helpful and completely exceeded what I was expecting!

we sailed for 12 days and each day was a new discovery for us as we explored the Knicks and crannies of the ship. We didn't use the bars or

pubs or casino nor spa so those areas I can't review . We loves our cabin 11648 and location was perfect and quiet. Balcony was huge!

We did the early Classic dining at 5:30 and really enjoyed rotating to the 4 different restruants with our same Waiter and assistant But we were told that all changed Nov. 27 as so many people complained about it . Too bad as we found it fun with the changes. It will now be no rotation and assigned dinning room for entire cruise.

Traditional will be in Grande and Chic (my favorites) and My Time will be Silk and Icon.

We plan to use this ship for another cruise since we loved it so much!

12 Days of Heaven by Cruiser92688980

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I loved having 3 days before and after the islands to relax and unwind.  The shows were great, lots of spots to hang out in 270 and plenty to do.  Loved the bumper cars, wished the times offered were more frequent.  While the food was good and the service excellent, I didn't love the rotating dining room concept.  I loved the band - "Rock the Boat" and had lots of fun dancing.  I would have liked a softer bed, and actually had a few restless nights due to my inability to get comfortable.  Overall - great experience!  Looking forward to my cruise next November!!

One of the best cruises ever! by xmasqueen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although the Anthem of the Seas is a very large ship, it did not distract from the personal approach and treatment we received.  The staff were professional, friendly, attentive, and approachable.  The cleanliness of our room and all areas of the ship we visited was impressive.  The shows were good but some were way too long for my taste.  The food in the specialty dining rooms was absolutely fantastic - variety, presentation, and taste.  Embarkation and disembarkation processes were adequate with minimal wait times.  The only port we didn't care for was Labadee, Haiti.  Basically nothing to do and the beach was rocky and dirty and the local vendors are very pushy.

Worst ship I've ever sailed by dac105

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This ship should be renamed Mayhem of the Seas.  I am a Diamond cruiser with Royal Caribbean and I love Oasis/Allure!  I don't know what RC was thinking when they built Anthem.  This ship is so unstable it rocks constantly even in calm seas.  The ship is so narrow and everywhere we went we felt cramped and crowded like sardines in a can.  The only decent food we had was in the specialty restaurants.  The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor.  We had a mid ship balcony cabin on deck 12 but every night we were awakened multiple times by noise that sounded like someone was banging pots and pans together.  Worst nine days of my life.  BEWARE!!!!!  Do NOT cruise on this ship or you will regret it.  I wish I had heeded all the negative reviews I read before we decided on this ship.  I haven't given  up on Royal Caribbean but I will NEVER sail on Anthem ever again!!!!!!!

Review of Anthem of the Sea by MichelleFruth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise was the worst cruise I have ever been on.  The workers were friendly but the function of the cruise was bad.  The menu was the same just about every night and the food was not that good.  The Windjammer had just about the same food everyday for all their meals.  I actually lost weight on this 9 day cruise.  We didn't get to go to Bermuda because of the weather but didn't get informed of for almost a day and 1/2.  They did have enough activities to keep you busy with the extra day of cruise or offer in adjustment for the inconvenience.

Perfect Cruise by mattvaz91

The ship is well maintained and it has a lot options for activities or just leisure. The staff was fantastic, and we did not have a single complaint. Everything was above and beyond what we were expecting.
