Review summary

All in all it was a nice cruise. This was my 18th cruise but only my 2nd with Royal. It was my husband's first time on Royal but his 15th cruise. There were a lot of positives that outweighed the negatives. We had a good time and felt relaxed. That's what it's all about to us! We would sail with Royal Caribbean again. Thanks!!!

Embarkation

Probably one of the fastest and least stressful embarkation we have ever experienced! Definitely pre-check in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was mostly really good to good. We all agreed that the selections in the main dining room was OK but a bit lack luster. The food was good but a lot of what we ate, we could eat at home. The buffet had lots of choices and a good place to go for a snack on port days. Gets busy in the mornings and at lunch. Stayed away at those times of day. Solarium Bistro has early bird breakfast from 7:30-8:00 am but be advised it's just pastries, bagels, coffee, juice etc. They bring out the buffet items at 8:00 am. It's a nice place to go to get away from the crowds...i.e. getting run over by strollers or screaming toddlers or both.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There wasn't a ton of activities and the ones we attempted to join in on (trivia) were often crowded and there was no place to sit more than 30 minutes prior. We spent a lot of time in Two70 and just hung out with our friends. Played some cards in Brass and Bock as well.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved We Will Rock You. So good! Didn't see The Gift or Spectra's Cabaret. We also enjoyed both comedians. One of the shows was kind of ruined because apparently toddlers also enjoy stand up comedians? We really, really wished more parents took advantage of the kids club. Hearing screaming and crying during a comedy act really takes away from others' experience as well is disrupts the performers. Try Disney Cruise Line next time, I hear they are pros at this kind of thing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service and staff were great! Only one small issues was with the Casino Host. He was very rude to me the one and only time I went there and asked a question about the free pull we get as Gold status. He barked at me like I was an idiot and was apparently supposed to know that he was getting ready to do some silly tournament. Other than than that, it was above and beyond fantastic.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
For a ship so large, we really liked the layout. We found it easy to navigate and almost never felt crowded (our sailing was totally booked). I am giving it a good because some of the public rest rooms, especially those near the glass elevators smelled like sewage often. It wafted into the main hallway...I believe it is called "The Via". It was really gross.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had an Oceanview with Large Balcony cabin. The balcony was a really nice size. You could easily fit like 8 people on it. We also liked that that the top was covered. There was plenty of storage for the two of us. The bed was absolutely terrible. It was so hard and uncomfortable, hence the 4 stars. We asked our lovely steward for a cushion and she did add some padding but it was still pretty hard. My back still hurts 3 days later. I found fingernail clippings (maybe toenails??) on the last morning when I dropped something that rolled under the bed. That totally grossed me out. They were definitely not from me or my husband. I am still giving the cabin a good rating. Overall it was nice, well lit, clean (except for what was mentioned above). There are also 3 plugs! Yes, 3!!! There are 2 at the desk and 1 on one side of the bed. AND there are 2 USB ports. Very nice!! The walls are magnetic so feel free to bring hook magnets to keep things orderly. We did this and it really helped.

We only parked here. Easy parking.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Beautiful. Second time in Bermuda. Took the ferry to Georgetown and had a nice day there. Spent the 2nd day in King's Wharf. Shopped and had a Rum Swizzle.

Boston, Massachusetts

Cold and rainy. Made the best of it. Purchased hop on/hop off tickets with City View Tours (I was got an awesome deal with Groupon). As the old saying goes...you get what you pay for. We had to take an Uber to the first stop because it was over 2 miles away...not fun on a cold rainy day with all kinds of road work in between. I would definitely go with the other Trolley company, Old Town Trolley we saw which stops at the cruise port or within a few minutes walk. City Tour Trolley was good and I would recommend if you're staying downtown at a hotel and not coming from a cruise ship. We went to Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, Cheers and the North End. We also took a nice trolley ride around a lot of the city to get out of the cold and rain.

Disembarkation

We drove to the port so it was pretty easy getting off the ship.

So true Joy! For the money that we pay for these cruises, it's in our best interest to try to make the best of it, my thoughts anyway. We experienced some issues on our Anthem cruise but I am looking forward to sailing on her again. Hopefully, they take care of that smell.

Fabulous review! Attitude is everything and cruisers are the best. Nice to see you didn't give everything one star because of a few issues. Some people just can't be pleased. Blessed cruise! Joy
