Review summary

We booked this cruise because the price for our cabin was amazing. We enjoyed this cruise very much. We would gladly sail Anthem again if it home ported somewhere other than Port Liberty, say Florida, for the ease of our travel to/from the ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It took us 10 minutes from the time we dropped our bags until we were on the ship. Absolutely amazing. The last time we sailed out of Port Liberty we were stopped just prior to dropping our bags for 45 minutes. This time, everything flowed smoothly with no delays.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We thought the food was very good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Having numerous small pools in the Solarium was different and, at first, we didn't like the concept. However, we came to realize they fit our need very well.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Royal Swedes in 'The Music Room' were outstanding. This is a great venue. We were blown away by the shows in'270'

Children's Programs

We didn't travel with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very friendly and attentive.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The only negative thing we found was Solarium floor drains tend to have water flowing over long distances, in our case underneath our loungers, getting everything we set there soaking wet. Be warned. Once we knew what to look for we mitigated the problem.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This cabin, while adequate, seemed a bit smaller than those we've had on other Royal Caribbean ships. It has an obstructed view balcony and looks out over a life boat. We got an excellent price for this cabin and booked for that. All things being equal, we probably wouldn't book an obstructed view cabin like this again.

Ship tip

Eat in some of the smaller venues to avoid lines and crowds, venues like 'The 270 Cafe.'

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

5 out of 5
We flew into Newark Airport (EWR) the night before and stayed across the interstate from the airport. We didn't so anything special. The Uber ride to Port Liberty took about 20 minutes and cost approximately $15. We left our cabin @ 7:00 am and were sitting at our Newark Airport gate by 7:55 am.

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

We stayed on the ship.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

4 out of 5
We had a nice day. Not that anything was wrong, but we prefer Labadee to Coco Cay.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We walked around Nassau and shopped. The people were friendly and we had a good time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We left our cabin at 7:00 and by 7:12 were standing curbside waiting for our Uber.
