Review summary

The Athem is a big, beautiful ship. The designers made very good use of the natural light available in most of the common areas.

The crew members on this ship were exceptional. Always helpful, smiling and happy!

The entertainment well exceeded our expectations. Really top-notch. Spectra's Cabaret is a must-see and the headliners brought in were amazing.

The food and the layout in the Windjammer Buffet was great. We weren't as pleased with the main dining room, though. It wasn't terrible but nothing ever made us say "wow!. We did enjoy the wide variety of restaurants included in the fare of the cruise.

My only complaint about this ship was how they used the promenade for sales. Normally a wide space, it got way too crowded when they added kiosks and tables. I made shopping less enjoyable and also just trying to pass through to get to Sorrento's or the other end of the ship was aggravating.

Overall, really love the Anthem and would sail Royal Caribbean again.

The cabin was a little smaller than what we had been in on a different cruise line but that didn't really bother us. We were on the 8th deck - we thought it was perfect. Nearly half way up the ship, making it fairly equidistance to the activities on the other decks.

Ship tip

If you drink more than 2 sodas/pop per day, consider getting the soda package. Soda at the bar costs about $4.50 each. The soda package is $8.50 a day.
