Review summary

Overall had a great week. We really enjoyed the American Cup racing excursion in St. Martins. This was the 2nd time we have been on the Allure and also went on the Oasis one time. Both cruises on the Allure were better.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Getting on and off the ship was very efficient and fast. Less than 20 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food for the most part was very good for a cruise ship. It was better than the other cruises we have been on. I say this in comparison to other ships, and am not comparing to a 5 star restaurant on land. Obviously there are differences when on a ship.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
For the most part, the activities were pretty good. The activities on the sport deck were better organized than other RC ships. I give this a 3 star rating as we were pretty disappointed in the lack of opportunties to go ice skating. As far as we could tell there were only 2 sessions, both during the dinner hour. We could only try to get to the second one, but were too late.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was outstanding. My wife and daughter really liked Mama Mia while my favorite was Blue Planet.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We received great service from everyone on this cruise. Our dinner waiters Gerland and Clifton are to be especially commended, as they went out of their way to provide us service and make us feel comfortable.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is designed well to handle large crowds. I like the idea that they emphasized not leaving towels on chairs all day at the pools. Seemed like it help free up some chairs at times.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was good and typical of most cruises. The pull out sofa bed was a little uncomfortable to sleep on, but other than that, the cabin and balcony were good.

Ship tip

Plan ahead of time for the shows and my time dining. I know a lot of folks like to go with the flow, but it is difficult to setup each day and you would likely end up waiting or not getting in a show.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
The view of Miami from the ship is awesome.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Probably one of my favorite Caribbean island. Shopping and beaches are close.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Also a favorite island, although I am partial to military forts.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Lovely beaches and the dragon roller coaster is great. Never tried the zipline yet.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We left the cabin about 10 minutes before they starting letting folks off the ship. There was a significant line when we got down to deck 5 which wrapped around the walking track. But once we got started, it moved quickly. And security was a lot faster with the face recognition. We were at our shuttle in about 1/2 hour after leaving our cabin. We did carry our luggage out.
