This was my first cruise.... by dan77oyo

Sail Date: /

This was my first cruise. It was wonderful! All of the crew was very patient with me. The indoor cigar and smoking area was my highlight, a real man cave i would love to have.

Awesome Itenerary! by mikepa1903

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Mercedes is great Cruise Director, the Adventure is a really nice and very well maintained ship and the ports and excursions were very enjoyable. I would repeat the exact cruise again. I do miss the chocolate buffet, the 'pop up' food stations from previous cruises and I prefer Seaview Cafe to $7pp at Johnny Rockets. Over all the food was three stars, not 4 and definitely not five. More than once the bread from the Windjammer and sit down breakfast were one star. Dining room service was GREAT but the Windjammer fell a little short of previous experiences (had to ask for things that should have been out).

1st time on AOS by Kisma1

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

This was our 1st time aboard AOS and we were impressed with the ship.  The wait staff was fantastic and the Captain was always visible during the cruise.  The only thing that was disturbing was the lack of cleanliness of the public restrooms throughout the ship.

Cabin beds by gjpalmbay

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Large Group

My cruise was good, except for the cabin sleeping area was not good for older ladies. Sleeping on bunk bed is not for old ladies. We are not young we are not to be made too climb up and down on bunk bed. I know we will not do a cruises again where we have to sleep on bunk bed. I took many cruises but this was the worst cabin cruises I ever had. And I made this cruises six month in advent, tell them our ages, so why we was given bunk beds, for ages 84, 65, 62 and 60. I went to guest service and tell them what was happen, they let me know they could not help  me because they had no other room because the cruises was full.

Dirty by kdjheath

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

I am not usually all that critical of a traveler.  I always immediately see where improvements can be made but I also know that on a cruise ship with so many folks constantly on and off the ships you have to be realistic.  I have cruised with Royal Caribbean in the past and loved it, but on this trip I was completely shocked at the conditions on board.  The title of this review pretty much sums up the conditions on Adventure of the Seas - DIRTY!  I have photos of the condition of our balcony stateroom and in the dining room.  Drawers were broken and would not close the phone did not work, the rust on the framework of the bathroom, a dirty stained toilet.  There were stains and hair on the couch and chair.  The rest of the ship was no better - food and dirt on the ledges in the dining room and on the carpet.  It looked like they hadn't vacuumed for a week.  I even found dirt inside my utensil napkin when I unrolled it.  I got sick while on board which has NEVER happened before and when I went down to the medical office (1st time ever and have been cruising since 2002) even the waiting room was dirty. Crumbs on end tables and floor was dirty.  I do have to say that the itinerary was exceptional on this cruise but my husband and I have pretty much decided we are going to pass on Royal Caribbean for the foreseeable future due to the conditions on board this ship.

Southern Carribean Cruis by polson8748

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Just back from a week long cruise aboard the Adventure of the Seas.  Overall, the cruise was good!  The service of the hoteling and wait staff was impeccable!!  We took this cruise because they were going to be in Aruba all day, which is our favorite place to go.

If I had anything negative it would be that the ship is starting to show some age as well as wear and tear.  It's about due for a remodel.  Also, was not happy that the buffet closed at 9pm.  We are used to being able to go there and grab a coffee and something sweet to take to our room.

50th b'day celebration by lexirocky

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Prior to this cruise I went on a similar cruise in 1997, Royal Caribbean, Monarch of the Seas.  While I enjoyed myself on the Adventure of the Seas, I did notice a negative change in the quality of the food and entertainment.  While I realize the economy has taken a toll on everyone/everything, the cruise cost does not reflect this and I expected more for the price.  Biggest disappointment was the lack of the Midnight Buffet, which was a hit on my previous cruise.  Also, as I mentioned, the entertainment was lack luster.  I was so disappointed I don't think I will ever go on another cruise.

Southern Caribbean Disappointing by Ted1955

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

First let me say, The Adventure of the Seas is a wonderful ship for her age.  Crew, Staff and Facilities were outstanding.  Couldn't have asked for a better cruise while on board.  Now if you are expecting to go ashore on St Johns Antigua, Castries St Lucia or Bridgetown Barbados and find those perfect postcard beaches, forget it.  The local population on those islands have exceeded the sustainability of the islands resources.  We did three excursions, one on each island.  Trash is everywhere, in some cases, raw sewage flowed down the streets.  Every stream or water source we saw was polluted.  On one 4 X 4 Jeep excursion up into the mountains we saw trash just thrown off the side of the dirt roads, miles from any town.  We had a hard time taking pictures while at the beach that excluded the trash.  It's sad to think these people are destroying the very thing that draws the tourism to them.  It won't be long before these places look worst than Hati.

The dinner crew was AWESOME! by baunderwood

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Ship is laid out well - just not enough pool space (pools were jammed on cruise days) and not enough shade on the ship to lay out in. Too hot to lay in sun.

Service at the staterooms needs to improve by jenniemayte

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

the itinerary was excellent, the service at the dinning room was excellent too but the variety on thr menu and the quality of the food was poor. At the stateroom the housekeeper forgot to take plates with leftovers , I asked for ice daily and forgot a few times. The cabins needs to be renew. I travel before in the Adventure of the Seas and this have been the worst experience. I was really disappointed.

Great trip for a family of all ages by AmandaSteinbrun

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Large Group

Enjoyed the cruise for the most part although St. Croix was not a great stop as it's a very depressed area with very little to do off dock.

Food in the dining room at night was awesome but the lunches at windjammer were terrible.  Worst buffet food I have ever had.  Poor choices and quality of food was less than desireable.  The taco bar was ridiculous as it was taco bell quality.

The ship however is very well maintained and offer a great gym and activities and bars.  The service and staff is outstanding!

Southern Caribbean Cruise by AMilne

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

This is the second time we have sailed from Puerto Rico. It's a great starting point with very nice people and good local cuisine.

We have been to St. Thomas and St. Kitt's previously and were excited to go back and see the parts of the islands we didn't get to see on our previous trip. The plus side was going to Aruba and Curacao, two beautiful islands. (on Aruba, you have to visit Eagle Beach)

The boat was clean and easy to get around on. Various venues for all. Food in the dining room is excellent (see if you can get a set dining time {we had 6:00 which worked out perfectly for us} as the anytime dining, you may have to wait, but it's not usually too long). Staff was always helpful and eager to please.

:( No more Buckets of Beer specials :(   Drink packages are a good idea (it that's your thing...) You can save a little.

Looking forward to our next cruise, just have to wait for one with different ports to have "another" new experience, but you won't be disappointed.

Summer Cruise, Caribbean by jmslack

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

Had fun on this cruise. Ship was very nice. The meals were great! I probably ate more than I should have. We did shore excursions from the ship and they were a lot of fun. Snorkeling was really good. I would recommend this to all.

Had the time of my life on Adventure of The Seas, loved it! I cruised with my son. The crew was super nice, great treatment and good food. The money was well spend by taking this cruise from P.R. to the Caribbean.

Some Great Some Awful by VenyBelle

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (young children)

This was my first cruise and I was very excited because I heard so many great reviews about Royal Caribbean ship & food selection.  Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with 2 things in particular, the rooms and the food.  I am not not at all a picky eater, but I could not stomach most of it.  Almost everything was disguisting. Dinner was better than the buffet, but still mediocore (my waitor and server were great though).  I actually lost weight on the trip because of this. I waited everyday to eat on the islands. The ship was absolutely beautiful, I just wish the rooms matched everything else.  It was extremely small, gloomy, and outdated.  I felt like I was stepping into a dirty motel.  Maybe this is intentional so ppl won't stay in them. IDK.  The islands were beautiful and I loved waking up to a new place everyday and if you decided to stay on the ship, there is always something scheduled to do (which I loved). The kids program seemed to be ok, I wish they would let the young children out of the playroom and into the kiddy pool area, but I guess there may not be enough staff to ensure the safety of every child that may attend.  Next time I cruise I will have to get a much bigger cabin with a window and I pray the food will be better.

Disappointing cruise.... by middleager

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

This was my 3rd cruise but the first with Royal Caribbean.  My daughter an grand daughters had cruised with RC before with glowing reports.  We were all very disappointed with this one.  Our adjoining rooms were fine and our attendant was a joy.  Our waiter tried hard and our asst. waiter was a delight.  The food in the main dining room was okay but definitely not exciting and 2 hours to get through a meal was a bit long.  On previous cruises the food has been "Wow".  I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to voice my opinion this time.  Cruises are expensive but we've always felt like they were "worth it" before.  The thing that bothered me the most was the attitude of most of the staff we encountered around the ship.  The best word I can think of for their demeanor is "oppressed".  Very few ever spoke or smiled unless we spoke first, which I can deal with if they are actually friendly in the end.... I decided maybe they weren't supposed to speak unless spoken to, which is a  bad idea, but a great number either didn't respond at all or barely answered.  The older guy working the drink bar in the Windjammer was downright rude.  I thought my daughter was just being sensitive so I went to get her drink one day (pop that she was paying for) and discovered that she was exactly right.  First he ignored that I was there and when I finally spoke up to get his attention and placed my order he did get me the drink but never looked at me or responded when I thanked him, just turned away... The guys that bussed the tables were generally friendly but, once again, only smiled or spoke after we greeted them and more often than not there was no smile.  For the most part the food in the Windjammer was okay but, with few exceptions, nothing great.  Room service was quite slow. Twice we were told 30 to 45 minutes...we waited an hour and a half and finally just went to bed.  It never did come.  We ordered cookies from them because they were softer than the ones in the restaurants at first but by the end of the cruise were just like the ones around the ship....hard as a rock!  Getting registered was quick and the personnel very nice.  The disembarkment  process was fine also.  It was nice to have coffee and pastries there while we waited.  As we waited we got acquainted with another couple who were expressing the same opinion we had.  It was her first cruise and she was wondering what all the "hype" had been about.  Her husband had cruised with RC before and was assuring her that they weren't all like this one.  The ice show was spectacular and one of the singers was great!  The comedian, however, was quite vulgarly suggestive with children in the audience and Mr. McMahan was totally over the top weird.  Had we have been near the end of the aisle we would have left like many others were doing.  He was working hard but that's the best I can say for him.... The guys that helped with the rock climbing and inline skating were great.....helpful and cheerful. We didn't stay for the sexiest man contest but the things they showed on the video were appalling!!!  I think they should have "lines you don't cross" as far as lewdness goes, especially when there are youth in attendance.  Some of the things the men did to spectators was beyond crude... The crew did try to adhere to the rules, which I appreciate, as we saw a young lady turned away from the dining room for trying to enter in a swimsuit without a coverup.  After saying all this, I have to say I think I would have thought the cruise was "okay" if the staff had been friendly instead of looking straight ahead with blank faces when we met them around the ship.  I realize being "cheerful" gets old but it's just like any other job...if you don't like it, change jobs.

Great Cruise! by Oceanswave

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Wonderful experience, great crew, super ship. Wonderful dining experiences and itineraries. Enjoyed St. Lucia immensely. Will definitely go again.

Just don't book through JetBlue Cruises as the partner, WTH, will do absolutely nothing for you. You'll wait longer on hold than with RCL direct, the person on the line will take your question and simply call RCL, making you wait on hold wondering "Why didn't I just book direct?" They will promise you perks that are supposed to show up in the mail, but never do. When the price drops, you call them... who then just calls RCL. Just skip the hassle, steer yourself away from cruises.jetblue.com and head on over to royalcaribbean.com and save yourself the trouble.Happy

Adventure OTS Southern Caribbean by tiny260

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

My wife and I love this itinerary, specifically Aruba and Curacao, we hadn't been down south since 2002 and felt like we had visited the Eastern and Western itineraries to much so we wanted a change. We wanted to see the Adventure OTS again, she was built in 2001, refurbished in 2014 and we hadn't seen her since 2002. You can tell in certain areas that she is getting old, but all in all I think after the refurbishment she looked rather well, she is well maintained and her crew cares about her.

We had not cruised from 2003 -2011, raising a family and all, high school, college, graduation and marry the little rug rats off had taken it's toll. The first two cruises we took when we started back were on the Allure (2012) and then the Oasis (2013), I would have been worried about having enough to do on the Adventure except we had been on the Navigator OTS out of Galveston in 2014, so we knew between the casino, the shows and people watching we would be fine with this not being a mega ship, plus we are old, we go to bed at around 11:30 no staying up all night for us.

In 2002 we made the mistake of flying in the same day the cruise left, flight was late, taxi strike in San Juan, etc., we almost missed the boat, so this time I was going to allow plenty of time, so we went down 1 full day early, flew in on a Thursday, had all day Friday to explore San Juan and then get on the ship Saturday morning.

I would highly recommend this to anyone cruising out of San Juan, Old San Juan is very historical and you can spend all day just exploring the old forts and Old Town, but the whole island is worth seeing. Night life is very lively.

St Thomas is St Thomas, most people know what to expect here, but we had never been to St Kitts and really enjoyed this Island, but we were waiting on and anticipating Aruba and Curacao, it had been a long time since we had seen them and they did not disappoint, we love these islands and would probably live there if things were different. Aruba and Curacao are different than a lot of the Eastern Caribbean Island, Aruba is more of a desert island, not a lot of lush green vegetation here, and Curacao with her Dutch heritage is just fun to explore with all of her very colorful architecture and culture.

I would highly recommend this ship and this Itinerary to anyone, young or old, you will not be disappointed. If you read the reviews for the ship and the ports I don’t feel like your expectations will be missed.
