Review summary

Overall, this was a good cruise. There are some definite areas of improvement, but we had a good time nonetheless.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
For those unfamiliar with cruise life, once we were onboard the ship, the directions about where to go or what to do ceased. So we kind of wandered around the ship aimlessly for a while until we found guest services where we thought we had to check in to get our room key - WRONG...we could have gone straight to our room where the keys were posted outside the door. It would have been helpful to have guidance in that respect.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the buffet did not have much flavor, but there was great variety.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We visited the spa, took advantage of fitness classes, hit the observation decks, and passed through the casino. The casino was too smoke-filled for us to stay or enjoy (due to allergies); and the two times that we visited the spa, they didn't seem to be prepared to facilitate the advertised workshops. Other than that, the onboard activities were okay.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The live music and stage shows were AMAZING! The highlights of life onboard the ship! We rarely missed a performance of the Kool Vibes band and the Switched On Band. They played all our favorites and kept us dancing the night away. The DJ for the late night parties was great as well. There was also the on-stage performances, the ice skating show, and the feature performer - Stephani Parker. All were amazing!

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Many of the guest-facing crew (e.g., guest services desk, VOOM support desk, etc) were not at all friendly, engaging, or interested in helping to address your questions/issues/concerns. Some of it may have been attributed to their lack of proficiency in speaking English, and/or their lack of knowledge/understanding about other business areas on the ship. For instance, an issue that was preventing me from accessing our photos onboard bounced between the internet services desk (i.e., VOOM) and the photo center - each blaming the other's service for the issue and neither resolving it. Or when I asked a crew member at the buffet whether anyone had turned in my lost sunglasses and he thought I was asking him to get me two drinking glasses. ARGH!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is easy to navigate and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a bit small but it was comfy nonetheless. And always kept clean (thank you Rudolph).

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
We don't engage in many water sports so that limited the activities in which we were able to participate while on the island, but we had a great time nonetheless. There's a bit of local shopping, a roller coaster, ziplining, etc.
