Nightmare of the Seas

Sail Date: March 01, 2014

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

This was my 3rd sailing with RCI\, and I expected the usual excellent experience. However\, the ship's propulsion system failed\, causing us to miss 3 ports and our flights home (costing me an additional $400 for new flights to FL). Insulted us with a $300 (per cabin) credit for our \"inconvenience\,\" yet fully refunded the costs for passengers on the next sailing (having the same issue). This was my honeymoon\, and it was totally ruined. Spoke with RCI about the issue\, requesting a full refund like the 3/23/14 passengers received\, and was told \"the definition of the issue is completely different from yours\, so there will be no refunds given to you.\" The underlying issue is EXACTLY the same as ours! Unbelievably insulting and unacceptable!

Cons: Missed 3 ports\, ship mechanical failures\, toilet overflowed and flooded bathroom\, poor customer service\, ignored my wife's nut allergy

Recommends Adventure of the Seas? No.

Ship Quality
Toilets overflowed on the 3rd day\, and the horrible sewage smell remained and became stronger during the remaining time we were stuck on board. Refrigerator was broken from day 1\, and it took 3 call over 3 days to get it replaced (and it still did not chill the water in the fridge.
Food and Dining
Food was OK; service was bad until we found a great waiter who fully catered to our needs as expected.
Cabin / Stateroom
Beds were basically cots - very uncomfortable. AC shut down on last 2 days\, bathroom not sanitized after toilet flooded bathroom\, sewage smell permeated the cabin and hallway.
Service and Staff
Service fell way short of past sailings. customer service staff was rude.
