Review summary
sorry i didn't down load any pictures yet.My kids have to help me ,and they are in college now.
We have been sailing for over 20 years . rccl never lets us down. the service was great. Even in the self service windjammer buffet the waiters were very qucik to fill your tea and get your drinks for you you never had to ask them or get up from your table to fill your coffee or ice tea.i was delighted to see this because i have noticed that over the years service like this has dissappeared along with the midnight buffets.
the embarkation was ok in miami we waited alittle while.. once on the ship it was smooth sailing the disembarkment was a pleasant experince for us it was easy with no lines.
the shows were the regular type shows some comedy but not really broadway type shows that were headliners on the AOS. the comedy show was good and they had a real funny juggler for entertainment that was good and a puppetier who was really quite funny.
They did have a movie theater if only they would play more new movies adam sadler movies bore me to death. But it was so nice to have a theater to sit in.
The food in the dinning room was good. The lobster surprised me,it wasn't those small lobster tails but it was the medium to large ones ,and they also served them with shrimp. The lobster was done just right and it was not at all rubbery but it was excellent. They also had shrimp coctail everynight on the menu and my husbands favorite excargot every night which was a real treat. I only attended the dinning room for two nights as my husband likes the windjammer. the food in the windjammer was good also they tried to have a nice spread of vegetables and at least one fresh cut meat either lamb or roast prime rib or top round. the desert bar was nice they had cheese cake and in the dinning room they had new york style with strawberries the menu both nights i went. the coffe they serve in the windjammer and dinning room is seatles best it is a very good, strong coffee. i enjoyed i didn't need to buy and other coffee unless i wanted cappachino which i do enjoy sometimes. the drinks were alittle expensive i think. i did buy those foo foo drinks for the shows but on rccl you really need to order early because they don't come around for drink orders once the show starts.
the promenaud is open all night for snacks sandwiches on nice poppy rolls and pizza and some cakes the est coffee . you will never be hungry on this ship.
The cruise director Mercedies was great she was just so energic. i want what she takes, whatever it is. she was constantly trying to motivate people to just have a great time with bingo. and all types of contests that i like to watch sorry that the sports soccer contest time was cancelled i was hoping to see my husband compete he likes this game but the rain put a stop to this
.the shops were nice.
the bottles of tangerie and vodka were not the prices i remember on the ship but maybe the price went up everywhere. that use to be a real bargain i didn't see any
.we took a shore excursion in san juan it was fun we were only there for 5 hours so we took a four hour tour with the ship excursion to the rain forest saw the falls and the bus took us on a sight tour it was fun and filled our time it was worth it i thought.
We had a balcony cabin for the first time. it was wonderful i sat out their with my wine and i was happy watching us pull into the ports and leaving. it was so beautiful and i can see why people book the balcony cabin. i had an out side before and i wasn't impressed. Our cabin was 8666 it had a small table and two chairs and a small balcony that you will get wonderful views from.
rccl has a club that you can join and they give you perks worth signing up for. They give you a welcome party that was really nice with entertainment and drinks on the ship with generosity.
st.Martin was so nice it is a nice island that has some nice shops and thats where you should spend your money on sueveniors they are the best price in st martins. you can get beautiful beach bags and tee shirts for under 5.00. its a fun shopping day if your not visiting the beaches or enjoying water sports. the rccl island in hati is a nice picnic day with food and fun they have several adventurous type zip lines that were fun to watch but not for me.
the casino well i love to play roulette and the wheel was not so good to me but the price to play was great 1.00 min. which is good for this game. I was on another cruise line who raised the minimum to 10.00 on the roulette and didn't get any of my money guess what i won. the black jack tables were also at a good buy in so everyone could play without breaking the bank.. the slots were tight but some folks won. they had all the games available.
the spas were nice but they were full most of the time. i did manage to get my 20 minutes in the hot tub it was relaxing. the pool chairs were accessable and now i think they did say not to hold chairs at the pool. i think the chairs were plentiful.
oh i almost forgot my favorite part of the dinning was the beautiful salad bar to the entrance of the windjmmer it is in the shape of a u and it has everything it has the very expensive arugula and walnuts and seeds and spring mix and it was a meal in its self.
also, i did tell one of the food service men that i didn't see any lox on the breakfast buffet before i could tell him that its ok he left and got it for me from downstairs and the next day it was also on the buffet every morning NOW THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
well i hope i helped you make the choice thats right for you . we had a great time on the AOS and we would do it again.
