We sailed on the AOS on 4/14/02. The ship was wonderful. It was April school vacation week so I knew my teenagers, ages 13, 14, and 17 would not be bored. There was so much for them to do. They easily met friends and were able to take advantage of the many programs available to them, such as the video arcade, disco, Internet cafe, and mostly the 12th deck on which the basketball court and other sports were held. The boys especially enjoyed the pickup bb games each day. The food was very good -- with many choices. The head waiter, assistant waiter and wine steward were always readily available. The cabins were uniquely arranged and never felt cramped. We had two cabins -- three kids in and inner, N category and a double, D6. For so many people on the ship, it never felt crowded, we tended to see the same people all the time. There were many deck chairs but they did fill up quickly. We were usually out by the pool by 9am and did not have a problem. Most people were gracious about giving up a chair if someone had not returned in a while. The Spa was beautiful. I took advantage of a facial and it was wonderful. They have so many treatments available. The first afternoon of the cruise they have tours of the Spa and introduce you to the area. At the end of the tour you can sign up for any of their services for the week. I suggest you do this quickly as most appointments had been filled that afternoon. The only hitch was on Saturday when the only ATM on board ran out of money. The casino was able to give a cash advance on a credit card but it would be nice to have more than one ATM on a ship that size. This was definitely a great vacation, where all family members were able to have fun doing things that interested each of them individually.
