First Cruise-Exceeded our Expectations!!

Sail Date: June 01, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Balcony

Great shows - great service - the midnight dessert was incredible - very nice fellow cruisers - fun activities (the belly flop contest was defintely worth a laugh) - food was very good and lots of it - a beautiful ship and a fabulous trip. This was our first cruise and we always thought of ourselves as not being the cruise "type." We learned that there is NO cruise type! With 3000+ people, there are all types. Our room with a balcony was very open and spacious (even the bathroom didn't seem too terribly small). Our kids were in an interior room - much smaller but they sure could sleep well with no windows! Easy to get off and on at the islands. Kayaking in St. Lucia was incredible. The shopping seemed best in St. Maarten. We loved the whole trip! We didn't want to get off this ship and am already thinking of booking it for their Aruba itinerary. We sure recommend this cruise for all ages.

Pros: Different island every day; super service, didn't get seasick

Cons: Hmmm -- not much -- ice cream machine broke down for a couple of hours one day . . . sometimes the elevator seemed to take awhile.

Recommends Adventure of the Seas? Yes!

Ship Quality
14 floors - over 1000 feet long - totally decadent ship -- beautiful, just beautiful
Food and Dining
Food's not all that important to us -- but there sure was a lot of it on this cruise! You could eat 24 hours a day if you wanted. No exaggeration --
Cabin / Stateroom
Comfortable bed, balcony room was wonderful, cruise television channel was very funny sometimes (as they interviewed guests around the ship).
Service and Staff
Very helpful, nice, and hard working. AND - they get paid very very little from the cruise company. They really depend on those tips -- so please leave the full tip for everyone! They certainly earn it!!
Our teenagers ice skating in the middle of the Caribbean in June -- that's entertainment! The shows were entertaining and fun. The Scavenger Hunt and Name that Tune activities were silly and fun to do.
Children's Programs
There seemed to be LOTS for kids of all ages to do. Our teenagers were much too cool (so they think) to want to hang out in the Optic teenage hangout. They met some really nice teenagers on the ship.
