September 2015 - 11 Night Transatlantic Westbound (Barcelona To Miami) Cruise on Disney Magic

Transatlantic Magic

Disney cruises always seem to be the best when it comes to customer service and care. This cruise was no different and was even better than a Disney cruise I took two years ago. The staff was very professional and courteous in every respect, especially in the dining rooms. From our cabin steward up to the Captain of the ship - who we actually met on more than one occasion - there was never a time when we didn't feel appreciated and could easily converse with the crew. One would think a transatlantic crossing would lack activities but on the contrary - we left the cabin in the morning and usually didn't return until dinner, and entertainment aboard is the best on the seven seas. We will do another Disney cruise for sure.

sheatsley280's Tips

Island Princess Island Princess - You must sail on this ship or its sister ship if you wish to transit the Panama Canal Locks. The panoramic (glass) lifts in the center of the ship (the Atrium) only cover floors 5 - 8. You must move to other lifts in order to reach cabins. There is only one way in/out of the dining rooms.
Panama Canal Transit - You definitely need a balcony room to fully enjoy the transit through the canal.
Huatulco, Mexico - Unless you booked a tour there is nothing much at the shops at the end of the dock.
Oranjestad, Aruba - White sand beaches are terrific. No shade unless you rent an umbrella on the beach. Everything is expensive.
Miami, Florida - Not applicable - we simply departed from the airport.
Barcelona, Spain - Barcelona was the cleanest and friendliest European City we've visited.
Funchal, Madeira - Take the around-the-island tour bus. Great views and best way to see entire island with limited time.
Disney Magic Disney Magic - This was the first voyage following a two-week drydock. There were some issues to resolve in certain areas related to construction in the concierge level but that didn't affect 99% of the guests on board. Elevators are too small-a single wheelchair or electric scooter occupies the entire elevator.
