Port reviews and tips for 23 Night South Pacific Crossing (San Francisco To Sydney) on 2017-09-28.

San Francisco, California Departs at 6:00pm - Sep 28, 2017

"If they had offered ten stars then thats what I would have given. Sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge into the bay with Sausalito to the left, Alcatraz dead ahead, San Francisco with its cable cars to the right. Yes, heavenly. The ship ties-up next to a tram stop from which you can turn left and travel inexpensively into the city (six minutes) or, turn right and visit the various Pier 39 attractions and find the terminus for the cable car (five minutes). Take a tour, cross the bridge, visit Sausalito, go to Alcatraz, ride the cable car...fill your boots! " - johnnierainey
"Always love visiting San Francisco. Lots to do. Visit to Alcatraz was worth it, but a little chilly on the water in the Pacific. The Bay Bridge is stunning at night as they have added synchronized lighting. Sausalito was worth the visit." - scipoletta
"What's not to like about San Francisco (other than the politics)? Cable cars, water front, China Town - all neat. " - ItaVero

Hilo, Hawaii Arrives at 8:00am - Oct 04, 2017, Departs at 6:00pm - Oct 04, 2017

"Black Sand Beach and the National Volcanoes Park are must sees at this stop! " - sehoran86
"Hilo was nice. We did not plan any excursions because we did not want to go on any of the tours to the volcanos. However, we got off of the ship and took a tour from one of the vendors standing outside of the terminal. We heard about the houses that can be rented for one dollar ($1.00) for a hundred years and that it could be willed to family members to live there for the remainder of the time. It was $45.00 per person. We saw lava rocks and heard how this island was formed by a volcano. We were able to walk down to the black sand beach and see the lava rocks up close. We saw historic buildings that had withstood a tsunami and we went to the Rainbow Falls Lookout which we read creates rainbows. This was a beautiful site. We also went to a chocolate candy factory and got to sample some of the chocolates. I truly enjoyed this island." - Brenbren01
"Again, discount Hawaii car rental and Jeep on over to Volcano National Park. Get the Gypsy guide app for the Big Island and it will direct you to all the must see areas. I suggest going to the Punaluu Beach Park first to see the black sand and sea turtles and then make your way to the Volcanos. " - Cruiser65184240

"Make sure to schedule a tour to Pearl Harbor. " - sehoran86
"We did the Pearl Harbor excursion WWII from start to finish which was recommended by cruise 411 because the ship excursions were already booked. One of the best excursions we ever went on the tour guide we had was knowledgeable, informative and personable answered all our questions and made the day one I will never forget both for Pearl Harbor and the sites in Honolulu." - mayorang

Suva, Fiji Arrives at 8:00am - Oct 13, 2017, Departs at 5:00pm - Oct 13, 2017

"Rewa culture and kava ceremony is great. all the locals are friendly and welcoming. at the end of the tour, we were dropped off in Suva for some shopping be aware - the locals are vultures and prey on the vulnerable. we were told a guy was "security" and forced into a store that sold wooden items at expensive prices. they don't take no for an answer and make you feel very unsafe. they look in your wallet, physically push you up to the counter and then ask for a fee. id avoid the town altogether if you go to Suva. stick to the shore tours through the cruise line so you know you are safe." - kky
"nothing much to do but good experience " - moringreys
"Highly recommend the "best of Fiji" tour to local village and longboat ride to spectacular waterfall!" - mattpickard

Lifou Isle, New Caledonia Arrives at 8:00am - Oct 16, 2017, Departs at 5:00pm - Oct 16, 2017

"What an amazing place... The locals were so friendly... There is a must do here - if you trek up from the port, through the trees you will find a small ⛪church... Walk past the church on the right will take you into the bush... Follow a bush track and you will find a cave where fresh water comes out of the mountain... Here you can jump into the darkness into a natural pool... A must see and do for all... Found this out by going to the Comedy show on the boat and the comedian mentioned it - followed the comedian to the swimming hole..." - Redcard69
"Lovely little island :) enjoyed the walk up to the Church - so gorgeous up there. Beaches are lovely, remember your reef shoes and a mask and snorkel." - LuluB53

Sydney, Australia Arrives at 7:00am - Oct 21, 2017,

"Add a couple of nights to stay in the heart of Sydney. The Circular Quay area is next to the main port with convenient access to Sydney's excellent water taxis and Train systems. It walking distance to them, plus walking distance to the iconic Sydney Opera House, botanical gardens, and the Rocks (shopping/dining)." - sharonsarkisian
"Whats not to like? As with San Francisco, Auckland, HongKong etc we were there for two days. Yes, we visited the bridge, the opera house, blue mountains, Featherdale Park (kangaroos and much more) , Manly beach etc. Too much to do, so little time" - johnnierainey
"We stayed in Sydney three days ahead of the cruise and learned how the trains and buses worked. Got an Opal card and used the ferry to Manly Beach. Took an excursion to the Blue Mountains. Took in Featherdale Park feeding the animals, rode the rides in Scenic World, saw the Three Sisters and great scenery, rode on the Parametta River under the Sydney Harbor Bridge, ate meat pies at Harry's, explored Chinatown, toured the city doing the free walking tours at the Rocks and in the Royal Botanical Garden and Observatory. We had a fabulous time. We could have easily stayed a few more days visiting the attractions. Got to see the Sculptures by the Sea on Bondi Beach and enjoyed the walks around the beach. Saw the Sydney Opera House special show on the sails at night. We had fun. All of our tours were on our own at the various ports on this cruise because we like to make our own adventures and find it more affordable for four people. We love exploring new places and learning how to do things the way the locals do it by asking questions and researching in advance before we get there. If your tours were not so expensive, we may have considered some of them." - SATvisitor
