Wpishan, Thank you for your reply. My oncologist and our other two doctors told us to get all vaccines recommended by Passport Health. They specialize in the latest threats from disease and insect carriers they work directly with the CDC and state department. The doctor did a thorough job with our itinerary and medications going through each port, diseases, and excursions we are planning. We took Hepatitis A, Tetanus, and Typhoid fever vaccines. We left the clinic with antibiotics and an anti diarrhea kit also a mosquito kit which includes treatment if we do get bites. I feel much better about enjoying our trip, the food, and the tours now!

Columbia has yellow fever problems however not in the areas we will be traveling. Other countries may require the shot for entry.

Hepatitis A is in Columbia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, and Nicaragua in the areas we are traveling to. Hepatitis A is spread through food and drinking water/ice

Typhoid fever is in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Columbia it is also spread through food. Typhoid is also in the area we are traveling to.

We also got our CDC vaccine cards with the vaccines listed and the doctor wrote an exception for the Yellow fever due to health problems and medications.

We may be over prepared but as I said I am now excited about our trip!

Counting the days😊

Ebba, my doctor reviewed the CDC site and told me that Columbia is the only worrisome country, but our only stop is in Cartagena, which is NOT on the high-risk list for Zika virus. As I will stay on the ship at this port, he said I don't need any vaccinations at all. If you plan to go ashore in Columbia, look up Cartegena on the CDC site specifically, rather than Columbia as a whole, for info other diseases.
If you're anxious about it, get whatever vaccination recommended so you can rest easy.

Hope this helps!

Getting excited 69 days to go! I would really appreciate anyone's input into what vaccines they are taking before this cruise. The CDC site has scared me to death...
