We are doing a day sail with Tribal in St. Thomas; going to Jost Van Dyke with Patouche Charters in Tortola; Orient Beach in St. Maarten; River tubing, Emerald Pool & Mero Beach in Dominica; the Boatyard in Barbados; A-I at Rendezvous Resort in St. Lucia; Mini speed boats in St. Kitts. I think there is room for more on most of our excursions.

anne.maresca

anne.maresca   Jan 01, 2017 - 9:52 pm

2 weeks so close now yay we are going to Emerald Beach in st.thomas... we are doing an all-inclusive at Sonesta Bay in st. Maarten... also the Marriott in st. Kitts. Garden cane beach in Tortola the boat yard in Barbados.. probably doing some snorkeling in Champagne Beach in Dominica. Silver Surfer going to the beach too but I don't remember the name of it because it's written down and I don't have it with me.. what are you thinking about doing

Well in that case it takes 4 days for the Gem to get to San Juan.

smilin64
Contributor Level: Purser

smilin64   Dec 11, 2016 - 10:51 pm

With only 34 days to go and Christmas around the corner the next month should pass in no time!
We're arriving 2 nights early from Canada and plan on catching a 'discount' show on Saturday. Pickings might be slim but any recommendations?

smilin64
Contributor Level: Purser

smilin64   Dec 11, 2016 - 10:45 pm

Actually if you consider the departure time from New York and the arrival time in San Juan it's pretty much three days for the Breakaway to get to San Juan.

artlarkin
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

artlarkin   Dec 10, 2016 - 12:10 am

In order for the Gem to arrive in San Juan it takes 3 sea days, while the breakaway can get there with only two sea days.

You will spend the afternoon at White Bay, relaxing in a hammock or any of the numerous beach chairs. After the excitement of Jost, we will reboard “Maverick” and head back to your ship arriving back around 330 pm.

His smile is contagious and he has a tool belt of knowledge. Just wait and see, you will understand when you meet him. After joining the Pain Killer Club, playing the Ring Game and lunch at SDB you can dig your toes in the sand, float in the crystal clear blue water or walk down the beach to One Love and have another infamous island cocktail, the Bush Wacker!!!

julikelley
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

julikelley   Nov 27, 2016 - 9:51 am

We will snorkel at either “The Caves” or “The Indians” weather contingent and after snorkeling to your hearts content it is time to board “Maverick”, grab a cold drink then it is off to JVD.
Jost Van Dyke, the birthplace of the infamous Pain Killer at The Soggy Dollar Bar. SDB is located at White Bay. Meet “Old Timer”, Mick the bartender who has been a fixture since its opening.

● ITINEARARY: One of the “must do” trips while here in the beautiful British Virgin Islands is to plan a visit to 2 of our most famous Islands. Norman Island, inspiration for the book “Treasure Island” and the only location in the entire Virgin Islands that has documented evidence of treasure being found.

julikelley
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

julikelley   Nov 27, 2016 - 9:47 am

We booked with Patouche Charters. We always book independent excursions with well recommended tour companies.
You are welcome to join us. Here is the info...
● BOAT: 36’ Power Cat “Maverick” Maximum Passengers (16)
● TIME: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
● PRICE: $125.00 p.p.
● INCLUDES: Captain, Snorkel Gear, Water, Sodas, Assorted Beer, Rum Punch, Fuel (lunch ashore and crew gratuity not)

wtf-wheres_the_food   Nov 26, 2016 - 7:13 am

Why can't the Breakaway get into San Juan at 8am, like the Gem does?
Arriving in SJ at 3pm, severely limits excursions and exploring the forts and seaside cemetery .

smilin64

I usually just search for roll calls under the name & date of the ship on FB. I was not checking under the 'NCL Breakaway for those who have sailed her' page. You have to join that group to see the roll call.

julikelley
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

julikelley   Nov 01, 2016 - 10:30 pm

We LOVED Tortola! We did an island tour & went to the beach after the tour. We wanted to go to Jost Van Dyke but we were only in port from 7-3 so it would have been rushed. We should have plenty of time this cruise!

I was on Celebrity Summit in Tortola when an independent tour bus went off a road during a rainstorm.
Baths seems safer.

smilin64
Contributor Level: Purser

smilin64   Nov 01, 2016 - 7:34 pm

Many of the ports will be new for us which is great. We went to Tortola on the Escape and weren't overly impressed. We were actually thinking of staying on the ship this time to give ourselves a break. If not too many ships in port we might try the baths at Virgin Gorda. The scenic drive tours seem to be potentially dangerous. Thoughts?

julikelley
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

julikelley   Nov 01, 2016 - 7:26 pm

We have been to all the ports but we are really excited to go back to Tortola, Dominica & our all time favorite Barbados!

smilin64
Contributor Level: Purser

smilin64   Nov 01, 2016 - 6:30 pm

While in Facebook do a search for 'NCL Breakaway for those who sailed her'. You should see a few options of NCL groups, select that one. Do a request to join which should be accepted within a matter of hours. Then once in the group you will see it listed on the right-hand side as an upcoming group event. Just click on it and voila. Only a few of us now; trying to share with our roll call.

We were booked on Royals new Harmony of the Seas for February 11th but I found this cruise with the amazing itinerary a couple of months ago & when the prices dropped it made it a no brainer to BOOK IT!

Me either. I was thinking of starting one as I find the conversation threads on cc hard to navigate.
You picked a great time to book. We made final payment 2 weeks ago only to see the price drop $200 CAD each. We're getting a bit of OBC but not much. So much for booking a year in advance :(
