Wondering if water shoes are recommended or not? If so what kind, I noticed some on Amazon for as low as $4-$60. Any suggestions?

Reservations are only on the new largest ships. We were on the Freedom of the Seas this past February, and never had an issue getting into any shows, we tried to be 15 minutes prior to show time.

Should we be booking reservations for shows? I don’t see a schedule or anywhere to make reservations. My sister has been cruising the Harmony recently & said they had to book ahead of time. I’m assuming that’s because they had 7K ppl on their ship.

We are staying at Doral Inn and Suites, just sw of Miami airport, last check was about $150 for the night with free breakfast. We plan to Uber to the port. I'm guessing anything north of Fort Lauderdale would be more affordable in your 1 hour range.

Thank you! Great info. Very excited! We’ve booked our excursions for both ports, & now looking for a decent & affordable hotel to stay in within an hour of port.

Welcome aboard khockersmith! And Happy Anniversary! You really don't need a passport but it is good to have. I'm guessing you will be driving down from Jacksonville, so precruise hotels are probably not needed. The rest of the planning would be what to pack for 5 nights of cruising, and what to do in the 2 ports we visit. Both have some interesting things to see or do, a lot depends on how much money you want to spend. We have been to both ports and are very frugal, so a cab ride to town or beach for a few hours is about all we will do, especially traveling with 2 grandkids for the first time. Best of luck planning!!

Khockersmith5 checked in. 1st cruise; 20th Anniversary. We’ve booked our cruise & ordered passports, but not sure what else we should be doing to prepare. Advice?
