Hi, we where there in February and purchased in Noumea, there where 2 duty free shops near the bus terminal where you get the bus back to ship and I found them very cheap, cheaper than ship. Heading back on Explorer on Wednesday and will be back to Noumea

It truly depends on how much you drink and like to spend. Work in $7 per beer, $10 for wine and cocktails. Coffee is extra and bottles of water. There's bingo and the casino too plus any shopping or photos. If $650 is just for yourself, you should be ok. Did you get any onboard credit?

You can use credit card or US cash for your onboard account. Just be aware they charge a random amount at the end and often banks will be a hold on your card for a few days. That's why we put cash down. The islands will take small notes ($5) but Noumea is mainly Francs or credit card. The tchou tchou train takes AUD cash.

Hi All,
Just wondering the best place to buy duty free alcohol. Is it cheaper in Noumea or on the ship. Thanks.

Hi again all!

Just want to talk money... I just need someone to clarify for me how it works? I have a credit card can i make an on board account using that? Also do we need cash on the ship to exchange currency for when we get on the islands? Thank you in advance from a first time cruiser. 😊

A little confused
I was told on booking that Explorer of the Seas had a babies and tots day care area but I can't find it on any website.
Also was told they have a splash zone but I can't find that either.
Has anyone been on this ship that can help. Also if no splash zone how can I take my daughter swimming (1yr old and wears nappies)

Unless your TA has cruised a lot, they seem to have no idea. Don't forget there will be 2 formal nights. That only applies if you eat in the main dining room. And it's optional. I just try to wear something blingy but my hubby takes his suit.

You can guarantee there'll be a tropical night
Usually the first night at an island. Often there's 60's/70's night. Not many people dress up but our group of 14 does.
The entertainment are usually based around singing. There's comedians also. I've never seen a bad show. They are great entertainers.

Best idea is prevention. Take it two nights before and then for another couple when onboard. See how you fare them. But make sure it's at night.

Does everyone take the Avomine before boarding or just see how you go and use it if needed?

I have been told there's no need for adapters that all devices will plug in

RosK
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

A good first aid/medication pack is a must. Mainly to save a trip to hospital doctor. Especially gastro tablets and seasick tablets.

RosK
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

RosK   Oct 02, 2016 - 8:55 pm

Yes you do Sue. Woolies sell them near the battery section. You can use a US adaptor but they also have a European plug. The European adapters are better as they are closer to our voltage. Makes a difference with hair straighteners.

Casual clothes as mostly beaches. Something for formal night if you want to participate. Something to wear if you go to the speciality restaurants. There is wifi at some ports much cheaper than onboard. Drink packages can be pre ordered or you can buy onboard on 1st day they have the packages available to order. See you on there you will love explorer we have cousins coming on for the 1st time also :)

jules8699

jules8699   Oct 01, 2016 - 12:56 am

If you have pre ordered the premium drink package RCL have streamlined their packages and you will now receive the upgrade to the deluxe package which is the same as the ultimate package for free
