We have done Reflection three times and always no issue. On one trip, captain simply went farther south and avoided any issues. No guarantees, but generally the trips are scheduled at times of least problems.

Did a transatlantic last October from Civitavecchia, and the crossing was incredibly smooth. You are rarely aware of any wave activity and should have no concerns.

Not sure ! I clicked on your picture here and it brought up screen where it showed your previous cruise. In the top right it said " chat ". I put the message there. Perhaps if you click on our pic you can answer or maybe see what I sent you.

This will be our first trip to Europe. We are staying at a small hotel in Venice and have booked an apartment at the Spanish Steps in Rome. "Packing light" is a new thing I'm trying. I couldn't have done it on the last cruise we took when Lexy was 3. Perhaps we could meet up somewhere and introduce the kids pre-cruise.

With my wife and daughter along the idea of "packing light" didn't come up !! In Venice we're staying at a small B&B called " Bed and Breakfast Barababao ". It's near the Rialto Bridge, and gets a very good review on TripAdvisor. I like the B&B's in Europe. More personal and mostly very nice.

That makes sense. I'm just packing light (which is very unlike me). We get into Venice on the 15th and leave far too early on the 18th. May I ask where you're staying?

From October 16-19. Going to Florence on the 19th and back to Rome afternoon of the 20th. We didn't want to lug cruise luggage, so that's why we started in Rome. Leaving big cases there until we come back.

What dates will you be in Venice?

brucev6

brucev6   Aug 28, 2016 - 3:20 pm

That's probably what we should have done. We're flying overnight to Rome on the 11th, spending a couple days there then going to Venice. Working back to Rome.

It's my mother and daughter and me, and yes we are! We fly overnight to Venice on the 14th and work our way to Rome.

Very few kids on Celebrity in general but even fewer on the transatlantics.

Does anyone know if there will be ACBL sanctioned bridge games on this cruise? I though it possible given the several sea days.

I'm going to ask again since I haven't asked in about a year... Is anyone on the October 21st Transatlantic traveling with children?

We've done transatlantic crossings several times and Oct, going west is the best. Plus, the ship is so big you feel little movement. We'll be on our 3rd Reflection crossing in Oct. It's our favorite ship and favorite time to cross the Atlantic. Comfortable Caribbean weather; rarely rains.

Lol. Yep. At least there won't be aggressive crowds in the "fun zone". ;)

So Fyredice, it may only be your 7 year old and our 4 year old !!

tonyhodgson71   Jan 31, 2016 - 3:04 am

I've never seen more then a dozen children on a TA... If fact on our last celebrity TA we only saw 2 the whole cruise... 😁

tonyhodgson71   Jan 31, 2016 - 3:02 am

We did the Equinox in October 2014 and the weather & seas were great... We left from Barcelona on the 22nd I believe! 😊

Everyone on Cruise Critic told me that it's not concern. Most of them do Transatlantics once or twice a year and have said that October is a lovely time to sail.

acharkalis1674@comcast.net   Sep 17, 2015 - 12:25 pm

We are doing the October 2016 transatlantic from Rome. I'm trying not to think about rough seas..

Has anyone taken the transatlantic cruise from Rome or Barcelona in October or November? I'm concerned about rough seas that time of year since it's still hurricane season. I've done the similar route before, but in the spring, and seas were calm !
