Sew2bhappy - I can understand the need for lists when living out of a mobile RV (as opposed to the ones people park and never move again). I've been researching boats and RVs and everybody preaches the need for lists! If it works for you in this case, by all means use it. And it is a great suggestion, just doesn't work for me -- I need lists telling me where I put the lists that describe the location of the other lists! :)

We're on Deck 11 -- I like being on the top of the ship :)

All my lists are on my smart phone. We live in an 5th wheel RV (seeing more of the USA than I ever thought 😎) so lists are my life. When you pack your house up and move it down the road 300 miles in a day you need those lists to be sure everything is put away. Got to a park one night and discovered my kitchen knives scattered all over the floor. Forgot to take them off their magnetic holder!
Just as a side not and not sure how it happened but I am on this roll call twice. Sew2bhappy and Allzright! Yeah I was the first. Booked this cruise many many months ago and have spent many hours since then doing research on any and everything I can find related to cruising.

Just a reminder - if you booked Early Saver -- check the rates regularly.
I got an email from my TA that they reduced the fare by $60 and added $50 OBC. (Don't know if its a TA thing or a Carnival thing, but the advice is still valid -- the rates have a good chance of coming down, and may change on a daily basis).

And the same to you. I was in 83 - 89.
Got out, got a degree on the Army's dime, and got a good career, from which I retire in 768 days (not that I'm counting :) )

Sew2bhappy - I've tried the lists before, but have found that I either lose the list, or end up packing much more than I need. Anymore, I just start with clothing, figure what I need for the number of days, then add electronics and their support devices.
All documents are in a gallon size ziplock (boarding passes, passports, hotel and parking reservations, etc) which go in a carry-on. It seems that I do usually end up forgetting something (hat, sunglasses, etc) but nothing that can't be bought in port or on board.
And I still overpack :)

I am prior USN. Served from '88 to '92. And thank you for your service BDRebel.

Also, unless you are flying into Houston, it is not a sin to overpack. Just as long as you can fit it into your cabin :)
If you are flying, make sure you save a few pounds for souvenirs. All you really need are clothes (half of what you are thinking), documents, camera and bath kit.
BTW, Bryan, USN or USCG? (or Other)?
Prior Army here.

I have lists! Divided into categories like "carry on" and "check". And sub categories like clothes, electronics, IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS (passport, boarding docs, cash, etc).

At a minimum, your passport (always a good idea, but if not at least a gov. issued ID and birth certificate) and your boarding pass. Everything else can be washed or bought :)
Figure enough clothes for 7 days (one pair jeans, one nice pair of slacks for dining, a couple of pairs of shorts, bathing suit (optional), a couple of nice shirts, 7 or so daytime shirts / t-shirts, a pair of comfortable walking shoes and a pair of nicer shoes for dining. If you bring any electronics, don't forget the chargers. Also, since there is only one usable plug on board, you might look into a power strip (non surge protected only), enough cash for what you want to do (souvenirs, port calls, etc) and a credit card for on-board purchases.

Thank you BDRebel. I'm still trying to figure out what to pack. This will be my first civilian cruise. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
