Not from carnival but here is an update on the port/ the latest news on Carnival Fascination

Itinerary Updates
09/22/17 – 3:30 PM (EDT)

Hurricane Maria

Carnival Fascination – San Juan

The Port of San Juan is currently closed. Fascination guests currently on board enjoyed a day in Antigua today and are now on their way to San Juan. Our intention is to be in position to dock this weekend, in the event the port re-opens, in order to give guests an opportunity to debark, if they wish to do so. Alternatively, guests may also remain on board as the ship repositions to Miami, where it will arrive on Tuesday afternoon and stay until Wednesday. Our airline partners are committed to working with our guests to waive any change fees associated with rescheduling flights.

Port officials have informed us that our terminal in San Juan has sustained extensive damage as a result of Hurricane Maria. The assessment is still in progress but it now appears that it will take several weeks to make the necessary repairs. Unfortunately, this means the following San Juan and Barbados sailings will have to be cancelled:

San Juan departures
September 24
October 1
October 8

Barbados departures
September 27
October 4
October 11

For all canceled cruises, a full refund will be automatically processed, including Fly2Fun reservations, pre-purchased Carnival Adventures, Fun Shop purchases and beverage packages. The refund will be processed to your original form of payment.

Given the circumstances, we are working with our airline partners to assist those guests with independent air travel regarding the waiver of change fees.

Additional information will be provided to our guests in an email later today.

-------------------------------

I know those of you who were due to sail on these voyages will be bitterly disappointed and yet I have no doubts that you will understand why this decision has been made.

I hope you all get to cruise again soon and we should of course remember the people of Puerto Rico and hope that they will recover soon from the devastation caused by this epic storm and that we will once again take you to see their beautiful island.

Me too. The only flights cancelled so far are for today. All of tomorrow’s still show they are going out. Where do they expect us to stay before and after cruising?! No hotels have power. The ones that do are in generators but the gas is sold out on the island so the time is limited. The airport is running on emergency protocol which means they have no air conditioning either. Royal Caribbean gave their customers a choice to reschedule, carnival won’t say anything! Thanks carnival for permanently switching me to royal Caribbean from here on out!

I am truly disgusted that Carnival is possibly having there cruise September 24, after such devastation to Puerto Rico! I guess they care more about the dollar than their cruisers health and wellbeing. Why don't they use their ship to help the people of Puerto Rico! I for one will never cruise with them again if this happens. Ugh... #disgusted

tarynkay0523

tarynkay0523   Sep 21, 2017 - 11:10 pm

Very disappointed with carnival for not cancelling the fascination for September 24th. Puerto Rico is 100% without electricity. And just had to fight my way into a flight for Saturday bc my original flight for tomorrow (Friday) was cancelled. This is absolutely ridiculous and very unprofessional. From now on I will only cruise with Royal Caribbean bc they obviously have their shit together.

All the cranes were standing and without apparent defects, the area was free of floods, and apart from some structural damage to zinc roofs at gas stations and other establishments, as well as that one or another overturned car, no major damage was observed in the area. San Juan, Puerto Rico. Closed.  The port of San Juan bounced back quickly after Irma passed nearby, with cruise ships pulling into the historic city just days after the storm's passing. But it's been closed since Maria approached the island on Tuesday. Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico on Wednesdayas a powerful Category 4 hurricane — the first hurricane of that strength or higher to directly hit the island in 85 years — and early reports are of significant damage across at least parts of the island. As of Thursday morning, power was knocked out island-wide and the port of San Juan remained closed. An evaluation of damage caused by Maria will need to be done before cruise ships are cleared to return.

Unlike most other Caribbean destinations, San Juan is not only a port of call for cruise ships but a "turn-around port" — a port where cruise vessels are based and from which they set off on voyages. Any extended delay in its reopening would be a significant logistical challenge for cruise lines with ships based there. Two large cruise vessels, Royal Caribbean's 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas and Carnival's 2,056-passenger Carnival Fascination, currently are operating out San Juan. They're due back in the town on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, after voyages to the Southern Caribbean. Both lines are promising updates on their plans for the ships on Thursday.

This is in Old San Juan, likely to far to walk to from the hotel, but still close.  They charge about 5 bucks to park.  The rental car will also come in handy here.  I wrote a paper on the history of this Historic Site.  Again, take comfortable walking shoes.  It is a large place to explore.  They have an audio tour that I believe you can rent with headphones.  It is worth it.

That's because we are still waiting on some ports of call to tell us they are ready to receive cruise vessels so I would ask for now that you stand by and I will make sure I let you know as soon as I can." (John Heald, FB post. Very nice photo of the Fascination at Dominica pier two day ago, too)

the beach is beautiful... you can walk around and explore the island..there are bars and restaurants.... and the beach and water is wonderful... beats walking around crowded st thomas.... I think is 120 pp and 40 cash for customs. dolphin water taxi has a website with the info. I'm so excited go go here... Kenny Chesney did a lot of his videos there it just so beautiful
