We also watched the comedy and it was good, but we also enjoy music and there was definitely a lack of bands on the ship. The only live music we saw were there steel drinks on lido and a solo guitarist at the bar near guest services. It is so unlike carnival to not provide live bands.

Hey Shari! I hate you were a little disappointed in the entertainment, we enjoyed it but we mostly just watched the comedy shows. We have cruised out of Miami and New Orleans both and enjoyed each cruise. We are looking at going on a 4 day sailing next July on the horizon from NY. It's about the same distance as Miami for us and I would rather drive north. I hate we didn't run into each other on the cruise! I was able to meet a lady named Leslie who is a shipmate friend and her sister. It was really neat meeting people from here and they were super nice. I hope y'all enjoyed the other aspects of the cruise!

Pam we had a great time and really enjoyed everything. This was our first time sailing in July too but I really enjoyed it, the weather was perfect. I thought the ship was really nice and the crew was fantastic. I'm glad you guys had a great time.

We had a great time. This was our first time sailing in July, and it was super hot. I think we will stick to late fall/winter/early spring from now on, but we had a fabulous trip nonetheless. Cruising never disappoints!

Interesting thread - I wonder how others thought it compared ? We had a great time - but the last time we cruised was 20 years ago.

The "band" we saw outside the casino was a single man on a guitar. The karaoke we saw in China Town was kids singing so we left. This was my 10th cruise and I could really tell the difference in the entertainment. My last cruise on Ecstacy

heatherbowen
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

heatherbowen   Jul 14, 2017 - 9:16 am

Odd- we were on this sailing too. It was the best karaoke we have seen on a cruise ship. We attended karaoke 2 nights and only saw 2 kids perform. There was a band on Promenade outside the casino every night. Lots of comedy shows, and 2 broadway style shows. This was my 21st (17th on Carnival) cruise and I didn't notice any less entertainment on this sailing.

sharisullivan   Jul 14, 2017 - 6:36 am

When we were on the Ecstacy last year, there was comedy shows, Broadway style shows, karaoke, several bands, etc. This year I never saw any bands, the only karaoke we saw was kids.

So was the last time as disappointing ? What types of entertainment are you use to seeing ?

sharisullivan

sharisullivan   Jul 13, 2017 - 9:22 am

Got off the Ecstacy this morning. Was disappointed by the lack of entertainment on this ship. This is the second and last time on her. I know Carnival is cutting back but we still need entertainment. Guess I will try Miami or New Orleans next year.

Oh and not to mention when you use your debit card if it gets hacked all of your funds are gone until you dispute is settled and that can put you at weeks with an empty checking account.

MrsPope14
Contributor Level: Second Mate

MrsPope14   Jul 07, 2017 - 7:52 am

Pam I don't take a debit card because if someone was to get your card while you are there they have direct access to your checking account. Most credit cards have fraud liability protection and you aren't liable to pay that money back. It's much easier to just get a new credit card than it is to fix a bank account that has been hacked. When you think about that you have to look at changing your whole checking account including debit card replacements, charging direct deposit, changing automatic bill pays and anything else. I seen this happen a lot while working in banking. A credit card fix is pretty quick and painless for the most part.

Michele we usually take around $200 on each island just incase we want to shop. I carry $100 and my husband carries $100 just incase we were to get split up from each other or something happened to one of our stuff. Get change! $1, $5, $10 maybe a couple of $20. We use a credit card also because some of the restaurants and hotels are cashless (credit cards are zero fraud liability) we never take our debit card I learnt this from working in banking for 9 years. If you have a credit card I suggest using that and just pay if off as soon as your back home, that's what we do. Plus we collect travel points that way!

does anyone have a recommendation on how much spending cash should be taken? excursions are paid and I have a debit card but I'm afraid to over bring cash and feel nervous having go take too much. I'm going on a 5 day to Nassau and Freeport with 5 of us.

Some people are so negative, I don't understand how some people can't find anything good to say about Nassau as beautiful as it is there. Have a great time! We did the dolphin deep water swim excursion at Atlantis a few years back and it was amazing.

MrsPope14   Jul 05, 2017 - 7:18 pm

Yes there is plenty to do in town and we have never felt uncomfortable waking around Nassau, most of the locals look out for the tourists. Most of the time there are even people at the terminal you can pay a small fee and they would walk around with you and give you like a small history tour.

MrsPope14

MrsPope14   Jul 05, 2017 - 6:25 pm

I'm not sure which beach you are going to but when you get back to the port in Nassau there is plenty to do in town. You can walk to Junkaroo the public beach, grab a drink at senior frogs or Fat Tuesdays, shop in the straw market. All of that is within walking distance and also so is the queens staircase and a lookout fort. We are going to walk to both of those this time we have never seen them.

michele76
Contributor Level: Purser

michele76   Jul 05, 2017 - 6:08 pm

I am going to book a dolphin excursion with a beach day included in Nassau. it is from 830am to 1. What do you do when that is finished? Are you supposed to go back to the ship or are there answers to look at?

I honestly have no idea how big my suitcase is but I've never had a problem. I mean it's pretty huge and they just throw it in the luggage pile lol. When you drop off your luggage the guys just grab it from you car and sling it on a big pile of luggage and you drive off so I have no idea if they even measure or weigh them before putting them onboard. I know the guys taking the luggage do not but I'm not sure where it goes from there.

You don't need as many clothes as you think you do. Most of the time you are in a bathing suit or shorts. Bring a multi plug outlet since there is only 1 in the cabin. Take an over the door shoe holder for extra storage in the bathroom. You can take canned soda from home. No bottles.
