We were on the same cruise. Our first cruise and now I'm hooked! I So loved it!
We had an excellent, relaxing vacation aboard the Dream!! We would definitely sail on it again. The ship was clean, the crew went about & beyond, lots of stuff to do or you can do nothing at all, excellent food!! You get out of a cruise what you put into it, just like life.
I looked for you when we were out and about but never spotted you! Next time we'll make a plan and meet up! 😊
I'm so sad I never got to meet you! I had an awesome time!
Hope everyone had a fabulous cruise and safe travels home!
Well it's a little breezy tonight on the Lido watching the Saints game. I LOVE IT!!!! 😜
That's a pretty white and blue plaid dress 👍😱😳🙀
Ok lol. This is my first do I'm extra excited! And it's ladies night tonight lol!
Yeah, no matter how many cruises I take, EVERY TIME, we must do the Muster Station. But its only one time
Lmfao! I'm waiting for my luggage! And this muster station lol!
Lol, it's on here. That's all I can say on here 😜
No I meant how do you have crown royal? Did you pre order it?
Good that you were able to go and get your wine
Good for you
Should you decide, I have plenty.✌😁✌
I went to get it and they let me back on!
I don't have that
Crown Royal. Blended Whiskey.
Lol, No!!!! How bout some Crown
Lol I forgot my wine! 😢 I wonder if they'll let me go get it
Well, looks like people found the food 🙈 and the dessert 🙀. This little boy is going all in with this ice cream
The French quarter is always a blast and exciting. Glad you enjoyed
We stayed at the Knights Inn. Got an uber to take us to Bourbon Street last night and back. Good time was had. Decent enough place and waffles for breakfast. $65 was an awesome price. We're up and at em now#
Enjoyed myself in the French Quarter last night. Getting ready to head to Fultons Garage soon
I'm on the bus and we are all accounted for.. see y'all soon..
it's awesome. you will enjoy it. this will be my 4th.
The key to cruising is relaxing and enjoying. Never get in a rush, and participate in every activity you can. Also, you are legally allowed to purchase and bring home 1.5 Lt of alcohol per person. So if you are a couple you get to legally bring back 3 Lt's. With that said, I bring back a whole lot more than that🙀 In any event, I'll see Yall on the Lido Deck😎
Me too! My first cruise! 😃
ready for tomorrow!
Thanks! I think it's a great deal! Can't wait til breakfast!
An excellent choice to stay for one night.
We're at Comfort Suites! Good experience so far. A bit dated but very reasonable rate for the room type!!
See everyone tomorrow ✌
Were eating at royal sonestra hotel restaurant on bourbon st...
Comfort Suites 504-466-6066 128.00. About 15 min away from cruise terminal
Hilton Riverside 504-561-0500 ask for Pricing at Hilton Garden Inn 179.00. In the Downtown area of New Orleans
I brought too much crap.😕😟
Can you tell us a good room for a good price?
Awesome, glad to know that I've been helpful!
Have a fabulous time!
I know what you mean. I tried to iron and didn't have starch so it was useless. So you will know me when you see on the the ship. I'm the wrinkled one. Lol. Don't stress it's your vacation. Thanks for all your tips on cruising, very helpful.
Last minute packing is hell, y'all! I'm anxious, and not the good kind!
My swimsuits arrived in the mail today! YAY!
Hope everyone travels safely!
Get ready for the time of your lives!
Hopefully, Your passengers are helping with the driving as well Shukonda, LOL, Feel free to email me. At the least you will have a contact in this area should you need any assistance.
Thank you. I hope so! We're excited to go. We're leaving today! Basically in 12 hours! Aaaah! I still have things to do as I've been at work half the night!
Shukonda, I admire you for placing safety first. You and your family will really enjoy this ship. All of your effort will be well worth it.
Well I'm glad I didn't have any nails in my tires when my car was serviced but I had 2 marker lights miraculously out which cost an extra $40 plus being one of the more involved service times it cost me $160 which included my 10% discount lol. Oh well it's done! And my car is ready!
I will be offering makeup services for the cruise
Makeup for formal nite/family portraits
30 dollas a person
Or I can come 2 u
I've read on here that the Hop on Hop Off stops at Rose Hall, Margaritiville, Doctors Cave Beach and craft markets.
I'm short on cash and won't to do the hop on hop off bus how much and were do they take you I would love to do a beach for my grandkids
I hope everyone travels safely!
And less crowds!
More food for us
I am too!!!!! Woohoo!
I called Carnival yesterday and learned that while the passenger capacity on the Dream is 4,600+, there's only 3,906 on this sailing! Yay!
Guys I can't believe that we leave in THREE DAYS! I positively have butterflies in my stomach! Aaaaaaaaggggghh! I'm so anxious!
Omg omg omg omg! It's almost HERE!
3 Days!!! Woohoo.
You're so welcome!
Thank you. That was very helpful!
Congratulations! Enjoy enjoy!
We got our truck serviced yesterday and had a total of 3 nails and a screw in our tires....but I was determined not to let it spoil my week. I'm so looking forward to this honeymoon cruise🍾🍹🚢
So I took our car in to be serviced. Had a small nail in a tire, so got that all patched up. The car we're driving to New Orleans is usually driven by my husband. Um, yeah, its also going to need to be detailed! On another note, my hair is done and I LOVE it. Some last minute shopping, packing and paying bills, and we'll be good to go!
👆From the Carnival website.

😂😂😂I'm 28 now, and I dang sure don't feel like no 👶👶👶
Will wifi be available on the ship? Has anyone tried FaceTime while cruising?
If you pay the prepaid gratuities, you can afford to cruise! 😊😊
Ok Lol. I read on here somewhere where there was someone who did if you can't afford to tip then you can't afford to cruise or something like that and they give $100 to the steward the first day etc and I'm like in my head like I'm confused lol. Just trying to tie up these lose ends of being a first timer
Girl don't worry about it! You'll be taken care of! 😊😊 No stress!
I know. I've heard of that and that's what I guess I'm sitting here thinking like will they know that I did pay lol. I don't want them to think I didn't or something like that I guess
I really don't know if they know that gratuities have already been paid or not! It's mystery! 😆 I also don't really know if they ever know if anyone removes the tips from their account (because people do that too!).
Baby 👶 KMSL
Ok yes. We haven't prepayed yet but will be. So that was my question. I've read different things and I was just wondering how much extra money should I bring for tips and if I prepay the gratuities, would the staff already know and expect something or not. I don't want to be cheap but I would like someone to realize that we did pay our gratuities and will tip on top of that accordingly. I knew when I go on our shore excursions to bring extra money for tipping etc. I just know we're so close and I want to make sure I bring enough money!
I think 2/3 of 12.00 per day goes to waiters,1/3 goes to room staff....we usually give a little extra to our waiters and room porter....
That was a huge wall of text and I'm sorry about that! I swear I'm done! 😂😂
My thing is that while I know the staff on the ship work very very hard, and I appreciate them very much, I'm not going to pay them to do their job. That's what Carnival is supposed to do. We always prepay gratuities without complaint. Beyond that, unless I am REALLY impressed by them, I'm not just on this cruise to pay anyone a wage or throw money around.
Please understand, I am not cheap. But I tip as a reward for exceptional service, and not just because someone does their job. I owe them nothing!
Okay. So if I am understanding, you have already prepaid your gratuities when you booked? If yes, in my OPINION, you don't NEED to tip anything additional. If you really feel that someone goes above and beyond and you WANT to tip them additional, that's at your discretion. The amount is at your discretion. However, some people like to give "pre-emptive" tips to ensure good service. To me, that's backwards. IF and WHEN I get good service, I may tip additionally. Not BEFORE. (But that's just me!) Also, I've read that if you make friends with (by tipping) a bartender at a certain bar early in the week, you may be setting yourself up for good/better service and better/stronger drinks for the rest of the cruise.
All drinks do already have an additional 15% tacked on, so unless you're just hanging out somewhere for a while and hoping to keep service coming back often, I don't think that tipping on top of that is really needed. Just my opinion!
If we are prepaying gratuities and this is our first cruise, can someone give me an idea of who/what else I need to tip on and possibly how much. I don't want to be the cheapo but I'm confused at prepaying and tipping more and will they know that I've already prepayed? TIA
Mel, I was only 11 years old in 1999! I at least need to be able to part like its 2009, which is the year I turned 21! 😂😂😂
I'm not packed yet but I did get my car serviced yesterday so that's all done!
Mani & Pedi on Friday for me as well.
Car getting serviced tomorrow.
Yay! I've got everything packed except last minute stuff, like phone chargers, hair tools, etc.
Hair appointment is today and getting my mani/pedi on Friday.
All done. Now I just have to do the rest of my packing.
Only people who vote for trump should be nervous KMSL now let's enjoy hour cruise to hell with politics for 7 Days we gonna party like it's 1999
I've done that before too! This year I bought plastic sleeves from Amazon, with metal links that you put though your luggage handle and twist to clamp it on.
Did you have any luck?!
We printed them and then used clear packaging tape and "laminated" them. Now they're nice and sturdy and waterproof!
Agreed! We can only go once per year. Hopefully eventually our life circumstances will allow us to go more than once per year! 😆😆🙌
It's my second cruise and I'm Gone book couple every year my wife's already got two more books best vacation ever
Politics won't ruin my cruise either, @karlbro99. I just hope no one starts trouble over it.
Adaniel64, cruising is my favorite topic. I have a bit of experience and I have done extensive research, so I try to be as helpful as possible!
Baby Diva looks like you need to be put on Carnival's payroll you answer most the questions on this chat line...lol
My wife and I never agree on politics....but it's not going to ruin my cruise!
Anyone else nervous that the election results may set the mood for our cruise?! My husband actually asked me if there are police on the ship. I told him that there is on-board security. I hope that the mood is light and there are no problems if anyone feels that the election doesn't go their way. (Notice I'm being as un-political as possible.) Just a concern that I have.
I would check Metarie and Kenner. Cheaper options! We're staying at Comfort Inn and Suites in Kenner. We stayed at Sleep Inn and Suites in Metarie in 2014. Check Trip Advisor.
Last minute hotel search. Leaving out on the Dream 11/6 but thinking about driving to New Orleans a day early. Any affordable hotel suggestions?
I'm so READY!
6 more days
You have to link your booking # to your Carnival sign-on account. Then its with your documents. You'll need to print boarding passes as well, if you haven't already.
Ok. Thx. I'll go online and find it.
You have to print them
Do we print luggage tags? Or do they give those to us when we board the ship?
Did you get your excursions figured out?[
Focus on your preparations and getting everything ready! Hope everyone has safe travels!
Lol. I'm leaving on Friday because we're driving down! I'll be so busy with work and last minute things that the day will be here before we know it!
I'm wondering how I'm gonna get through this work week! Lol. Too excited!
I love cruising. I can't wait til Sunday.
I know! We're leaving out on Friday! You enjoy your week also! I'll see ya on the ship!
Well have a good week! It'll be time to go before we know it! 🙌🙌
Cool! I bought one for my husband to have in his work truck. His job takes him to some very rural areas sometimes, without phone signal and possibly without anyone around to assist if needed. Wouldn't want him to be stranded!
I had one years ago. We actually used it when our electricity was out. I no longer have it but I know what you're talking about.
There's a website called roadtrippers.com that may be able to help!
Also, I would highly recommend a car jump starter pack (it can jump your vehicle off by itself, without needing another vehicle) and some of them have air compressors to air up tires, and can be used to charge your phone as well. Just Google "car jump starter pack" and you'll see what I mean. Amazon and Wal-Mart have them as well. I got one from Harbor Freight. We'll have ours with us when we drive from Arkansas!
Cool. We will have to see how this roast trip from New Jersey to New Orleans goes lol.
I've been to Cali too! Y'all could take a road trip and hit Vegas and then go to Cali! I had a work trip that was in Irvine, California and my boss and I opted to stay a couple of extra days. We went whale watching and it was just awesome! 🐳🐋 Also went to Laguna Beach, and it's beautiful!
Lol Hawaii is something I want to do. Niagara Falls and Las Vegas. My son eats to go to California
Sounds like you two have a great relationship! That's awesome!
There's a lot that we want to be able to do too! Especially seeing all of the old, rich culture in England. Our country is so young by comparison. "Old stuff" from U.S. history is from the 1700's, but "old stuff" in Europe may be thousands of years old! I also want to go to Hawaii and see the volcanos and (it pains me to say) Alaska, to see the glaciers, but not really, because its too cold! I'm plus sized but I STAY cold! 😂😂
I would love to go to Ireland! That's my dream vacation seeing all the castles! There's still so many things I want to do! Hopefully I'll get to do them. My son will be 20 in Christmas so some I may be doing without him but the way he is, he wants to do so the fun stuff I do lol
Good for you, for giving your son those experiences and memories! 😊 I've never been to Disney or Universal, but maybe some day! Our ultimate goal is a European cruise, or maybe just a European land vacation. I have been to Ireland but my husband hasn't, and he wants to see England and Scotland and France, etc. I know that they have European river cruises but I haven't checked out all of the options. This cruise is our 5 year anniversary, and maybe by the time we hit our 10 year, we'll be at a place where we can do that. 😆
Me either and I'm glad to have been able to give my son vacations every year as a single mother even if it was camping. We love camping! But we've been to Disney and universal but this is our first island type of vacation!
Now cruising for a family reunion would be awesome (if you enjoy your family)! 😂
I'm so thankful that we have means to cruise and have a vacation. I never got to go on vacations when I was younger and we work so hard, so its nice to be able to cruise!
Yes I will. We will plan on making the best of it! We aren't too hard to please and I just found out my family reunion will be a 4 day Bahamas cruise next November too that I want to go on which will make me have to skip the wls cruise but it's ok lol
Awesome. Well I know that you'll enjoy your time with your son and hopefully you'll want to cruise again in the future!
The DR trip was a wls get together until I cancelled it and did my own thing. They are doing a cruise next year.
So is this trip a way of celebrating your weight loss?! It's definitely something to be celebrated!
I'm probably gonna be in a Slim Fast diet this next week, to make sure that my clothes fit for the cruise! 😂 I truly am so excited and can't wait to get on the ship!
One thing that we haven't taken advantage of in the past is the sea day brunch in the main dining room. We usually just eat the breakfast buffet or room service, but the food quality is much better in the main dining room. And I want steak and eggs for breakfast! I have been craving it! 😂
Yes yes and for me I had weight loss surgery but definitely not the easy way out. I still work hard. Trying to lose another 30 and I'll be happy! But definitely happy now too. Just more advice with less pain!
160 pounds! Wow! 🙌🙌🙌 Congratulations, that's an AMAZING accomplishment! You must tell me how you did that! I could stand to lose about 60 to 70 pounds myself.
Cruising is the best way to vacation, hands down! We cruised for our honeymoon in 2011 and every year since! Sorry the trip to the DR didn't work out, but everything happens for a reason! 😊
Yes driving from Jersey near Atlantic City and yes I'll be bringing a sweater as I'm already cold a lot since I've lost 160 pounds lol. I originally had a trip to the Dominican Republic booked since last December but when the airline discontinued the flights to the DR and it was double elsewhere, I decided to cancel the entire trip and with the refund we booked this cruise just in September! I'm happy we did so far.
You have plenty of time to make up your mind! Can't believe we're down to the last week!!! We booked in January or February so it's been a long time coming!
Are you packing a sweater?! Sometimes it gets chilly in the dining rooms and even the lounges where they hold the shows.
Did you say that you're driving from Jersey? Is it already pretty chilly up there? You'll probably be ready for some warm temps in the Caribbean! 🌴
Lol you're too funny! I'm googling. Hopefully by the time we board I'll know what I'm doing with it.
I have long, wavy hair and I bought a $22 curling wand from Wal-Mart. Gonna do it myself for formal night, maybe half up. Try YouTube for some tutorials. Bring some bobby pins and maybe a pretty clip?! YouTube is how I figured out how to use this curling wand. Too bad it couldn't teach me how to not burn myself! I now have burns on my forehead, left thumb, and right forearm! That'll look cute in the pictures! 😆😆😂😂
I hope so. I have curly hair so I mostly wash mousse and go but I think my hair will look better with an updo for my formal wear and I need to find an easy style because I don't want to pay a crazy price at the ships salon for an up do!
You could bring garment bags for the dresses and suit, but that may be more of a hassle. Sounds like you have a good plan. I'm completely packed now, except last minute stuff. My hair appointment is Tuesday and I'll get my nails done on Friday. I even have made lists of all my clothes and planned an outfit for each day! (Over the top!) I'm sure you'll be fine at Fulton. I tried to convince my hubby to park over there to save money but he prefers the convenience of the port. Odd, since he's usually so cheap!
I just know that all this preparation will be worth it and we're gonna have the time of our lives!
5th cruise for us, but it's just as exciting as the first! Can hardly wait! I'm like a kid at Christmas!
Yes! I can't wait!
They give em when you rent snorkeling gear
I know! I'm booking my car maintenance today! Oil change and tire rotation in order! Still haven't packed but I'll be doing that between working this week. Wednesday is salon day for me and I'll do my son's hair and then get him a shape up. I've bought every single darn thing I can think of! I'm just putting my dresses and his suit in the luggage and then get them dry cleaned on the ship because I don't know what other way to keep them wrinkle free lol. I'm so excited. I think we've decided to park at the Fulton Garage. I wonder how the uncovered parking is. I mean my driveway is uncovered at home so I don't know what I should do. Its obviously cheaper to do the uncovered parking. Decisions decisions!
First cruise for me and my son also. So exciting!
That's what I say lol! Enjoy yourself!
Can someone please point me in the aria wear the single LADY'S will be gathering at I just want one I'm sailing alone on the DREAM for the first time 11-6-16 we are going to party like it's 1999 so if your single hit me up LADYS
I'm on the Dream also 11-6-16
Won't be the last.....
8 more days until my first cruise!! Super excited!!
I'm doing major preparations this weekend! Cleaning my house from top to bottom, getting packing finalized. I have my pet care arranged. Got to get my mail held, and my husband is getting our car serviced next week! I'm doing the single digit dance, everybody! Just NINE MORE DAYS!
That's exactly how I felt! I bought a set too but mine came with flippers!
No worries! I didn't have to go into as much detail as I did! I just wanted to be thorough! 😆😆
While the ship is docked, we'll mostly be lazy and enjoy less crowded public areas and fewer lines for food! 😆😆😊
Oh ok. I apologize for asking such an intrusive question. I hope you and you family enjoy!
My husband just isn't the most adventurous. Not to mention, 3 port days in a row is pretty intense and can be exhausting. We just prefer less action and more relaxation while on vacation. 😆 Also, I've read (over and over) that vendors in Jamaica are very aggressive. And finally, my brother in law (27), who lives with my husband and I, is autistic and is somewhat limited to what he is physically capable of. So jet skis and things like that are out of the question.
I bought my own snorkel set from Amazon though, because I can't stand the thought of using a mouth piece that someone else has used. Eek! It would be like using someone else's toothbrush! 😷😷
Flippers are usually included in snorkel gear, in my experience.
Does anyone know if you can rent flippers when you rent snorkeling gear?
We booked thru shore excursioneer to do the jet ski to stingray city and starfish beach in Grand Cayman. My son is excited to do that the most because of the jet skiing part lol. For Jamaica we're going to Dunns River Falls as this is our first cruise so we've never seen it.
What do you do on the ship while it's docked? Is there nothing interesting you'd like to see/do? Or have you already done it all?
I would suggest Resort for a Day in Jamaica. The Sunscape Splash? I have friends who loved that one.
Grand Cayman...have you ever gone to Stingray City? Everyone should do that at least once. We booked with Nativeway Tours in 2014 and highly recommend.
We're doing the semi submersible in Grand Cayman. Not getting off the ship in Montego Bay. And Chankanaab in Cozumel.
Need suggestions for Jamaica and cayman islands. I've been to Montego Bay before. Maybe get a day pass to a resort? Cayman I have no idea. Maybe a city tour. HELP!
Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel. Can't decide in grandcayman. Can't decide in Montego Bay either
Yeah, once I did notify the bank and I had still had my card decline in Cozumel. I assumed a bank error.
We only have debit cards, not credit, so I just take enough cash, just in case.
I have notified mine my last 3 trips and still declined with my debit card. Have a spare credit card
Everyone remember to notify your bank and/or credit card companies that you will be traveling, which dates, and where you'll be going. Otherwise, your debit cards may be declined when you're attempting to make purchases. I almost forgot myself, and was reminded by a comment that I read in another thread! We're getting close, everyone!
We booked Dunns River Falls and the Jamaican bobsled for Jamaica. Jet skiing to starfish beach and stingray city in Cayman and Mr. Sanchos in Mexico
Same here .. so ready
What is everyone doing for excursions?!
Alright! Way to go! You're going to be totally prepared!
So yesterday we tried out all of our new stuff for the cruise! Snorkel gear ✔ fake go pro ✔ goggles ✔ Waterproof cell phone pouches ✔. They are all a go lol. Dresses are hemmed and fitted, suits are tailored ✔ cruise documents printed ✔. Now to pack it all in and not forget anything! I'm mentally ready to check out!
I have been buying things but still haven't packed yet! It's about to be crunch time. I'm trying to get my 19 yr old son ready also and it's like I have a toddler because he's not helping! Aaah plus working. Can't wait for this vacation!
13 more days! I only have to survive 2 more work weeks, and then I get my hard-earned vacation! Can't wait!
16 more days!!!
You'll see a wide range. Some people barely do enough go get by, just to get in the main dining room to eat lobster...other people go ALL OUT. You do whatever makes you comfortable.
Does everyone dress up really formal? I was looking at some pics thru Google and I feel like I'm gloomy to be overdressed. I almost feel like why did I put in all this effort lol. I don't know.
They are optional. You are not required to participate. However, the best food in the main dining room is served on those nights.
Second night and sixth night, I believe.
What nights are the formal nights?
I bought the unlimited sofa package once...once! I was bound and determined to get my money's worth. By the end of the week I frank so many cans of Coke that the cost was under 50 cents a can. But sofa has lots of sodium. By the 4th day I couldn't walk because the sodium retained water and my feet swelled and was in so much pain. I drank more Sosa in that week than I ever had. Never again.
Yes, purchasing from the Fun Shops is much more cost effective, if you can get over paying a massive mark up. ($85 for a $20 bottle of liquor). But still WAY cheaper than the Cheers package.
You can purchase it from the gift shop and have it sent to your room also..
I would say no, but it depends on how much you'll drink. $50 per person per day plus 15% gratuity comes out to about $800. And 3 of the 7 days of our cruise are port days, so you'll spend very little time on the ship on those days (if you're planning to get off the ship). Just my opinion, but for us, $800 for one week of beverages just isn't worth it.
Our first cruise. Should we get the drink card or not
Thank you as well.
I can't believe we only have 20 days left! Ill be going into full on preparation mode this week! Can't wait!
We're SO EXCITED!
20 more days now, I'm ready!!!!!
No iron in the room. There are laundry rooms with access to irons. I bring Downy Wrinkle Release. They do provide shampoo and body wash but you can bring all of your own toiletries, even full sizes. Carnival doesn't have size restrictions. The room does have a hair drier but if your hair is very long or thick, I would bring your own, theirs are very weak.
Is there no iron in the room? I looked and apparently there's 1 in the laundry room I guess. Can you tell me what other things that is in the room and can I bring my shampoo and conditioner and hair mousse and hair spray?
An extra hour on the boat! Whooo hoo! 🙌🙌
Thank you Baby Diva, we have already planned to vote. We sure can't miss this one. And I want to remind everyone that we turn our clocks back an hour the morning we leave port. We get an extra hour of sleep!!! Woo hoo!!!!
Look at us, doing our civic duty! 😉🙌
Printing my paperwork tonight so I can vote!
Ok thank you. I came across some so I wanted to check before buying them.
The Sail & Sign card doesn't come with anything. They sell lanyards at the port but I would recommend purchasing ahead of time, since they're over priced. I have found lanyards at the Dollar Tree. There are also waterproof cases that you can put around your neck.
Should I get a lanyard for the sail and sign card thing or does it come with something handy to not lose it? TIA
Friendly reminder to everyone that the election will take place while we cruise. So we'll all need to vote early or do absentee voting ballots. But we should all vote!
I'm so ready
Oh, absolutely! We've always cruised in either late October or early November and its always been nice and warm. On our 2014 cruise it was a tiny bit windy/cool on the last day when we were headed back to New Orleans, but always plenty warm to hit the pool and the beach in the ports. Maybe just being a light sweater because it does get windy at night.
Okay Baby I have a question. I've cruised several times but this is our first cruise in November and I was wondering this: Is it warm enough to swim on boat and at the ports? Just wanting to know your opinion. I've looked at average temps and I know weather trends but just wanted your thoughts.
28 days and I am getting so excited! I ready have clothes and toiletries packed up!
It's ok lol. I did ask my travel agent and she said there is no additional charge but I'll just be prepared just in case lol!
You know what, I may have had Captain's Dinner confused with Chef's Table. Captains dinner may not be extra at all. Captain's dinner just may be one of the formal nights.
You know what?! 5 dang cruises and I am still learning crap! 😆😆
Thank you. They just arrived today so that's a check off my list! Another question. Is the captains dinner one of the 2 formal nights or is that in addition to the 2 formal nights? Thank you so much!
Pro tips for the first timers: Being a power strip (no surge protector). There's only one outlet in the room. Bring an over the door shoe organizer to help keep clutter and all items off the counter tops. Bring water shoes, because beaches in Cozumel can be rocky. You don't need to bring a beach towel, Carnival provides them.
Oh, something I just thought of. Some of the beaches in Cozumel are rocky. You and everyone you're traveling with will want to bring water shoes.
No, the formal nights don't cost anything, but the Captains dinner that you mentioned does. Its $75.
Your questions are no problem! That's why this forum is here. I LOVE to talk about cruising, it's my favorite topic! 😆😆😊
I don't go to clubs either. Been like two or three times in my life thus far but I figured I might go on this cruise if I can't find something better to do. I'm coming with my 19 yr old son and his 20 yr old cousin lol
Ok I will. So the formal nights cost extra then? Sorry for so many questions. I'm glad you mentioned that because I didn't know it cost extra. I'm still going but I just didn't know.
And still bring all your swimsuits and cover ups! You'll still want those too!
The last two weeks of my life have been SO STRESSFUL! I need this vacation like I have NEVER needed a vacation before!
I'm ready.. need it too.. 🎉🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍦🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹
The Dream is a larger ship and is pretty stable. You'll probably be okay in heels as long as you're not drinking too much 😉😆. Wedges are a good option too. Yes, there are night clubs. I don't know what people wear cuz I don't go to them, but I would imagine the same thing you would wear to a club on land. Pretty much bring like 2 outfits per day...casual for walking around the ship during the day, and something dressier at night. Also, the regular shows, I wear what I wear to dinner to those.
Captains dinner is an extra $75 I think and we've never done that. Probably pretty dressy tho.
Do they wear heels for the formal night? I've never been o.k. a cruise and I don't know how much the ship will be rocking but I have heels lol. I don't want to fall lol
I do plan on doing one of the formal nights as I can't get my son to dress up more than that lol. My travel agent said to do the captains dinner? What about going to shows? Is there a night club and if so, what do people wear to that? I think I mostly have dresses. I don't wear shorts but I do have capris
That first post should have said *shorts /capris/sundresses, instead of shirts... sorry! 😆
30 days everyone!!! It's almost here! Hope everyone is as excited as I am! 😀😆🙌🐬🐚🐙🍸🍺🍻🍹☕🍦🍪🍔🍕🍟🍗🍜🌴🌞🌊
Oh, sometimes it does get chilly in the dining rooms and in the lounges for the shows. Not a bad idea to bring a sweater!
It may be cool in New Orleans, but it will be warm once we're out in open water. It does get windy at night. I would say bring shirts/capris/sundresses for walking around the ship during the day. Super casual. At night, I usually wear black dress pants or leggings and a nice blouse in the main dining room, but jeans are acceptable too. There are 2 "elegant" nights where you can REALLY dress up if you want (cocktail dress or evening gown) but it's completely optional. You can skip it and eat buffet orn room service on those nights if you want. I hope that helps. Just ask if you need to know Any thing else.
Can someone please tell me what the attire is for on the ship or when eating? I was mainly bringing bathing suits and cover ups but I don't want to be ill prepared. I hope it won't be too cold!
No, it does not. The sushi bar was replaced by the Taste Bar. However, they have sushi as an appetizer in the Main Dining Room some nights.
Can someone please tell me do carnival Dream has a sushi bar on it.
Congratulations! Our 5th cruise also. Our first cruise was our honeymoon, this one is our 5 year anniversary! 😆
I started packing this past weekend! So excited, and ready to head south! 🙌🙌
I'm so ready for this cruise!!! A big party about to happen..hey where is all my party people..
We are getting so close!! This is our 5th carnival cruise and this time it's our HONEYMOON! 💍👰🏼❤☀️We are so excited! Cozumel and Georgetown are our favorite places we have been before. We are planning on doing Mr Sanchos again because we had such a blast the last time. Not sure about the other two. Almost time to start packing. It'll be here before we know it! 😎
Now I'll have to look into what ocean plaza is lol
I started packing last night! 😆
You're in a great area, close to the action! I love ocean plaza! You're close to the action! I'm on the same cruise as you. Its gonna be a blast!
Thank you! I've never went on a cruise so I doubt even know what to do on the ship lol but it sounds like I guess I'm in a good area? I appreciate your help!
Thank you very much
Also very close to elevators which will be very convenient.
You're right above ocean plaza! Should be fabulous! There's always stuff going on on Deck 5, and all you have to do is take a flight of stairs down and you're there! Also very close to the casino! You have a great midship location and I think you'll really really enjoy it!
I have no idea why anyone would look straight down! 😆 It's just a complaint that I have read that some had had about the balcony cabins on deck 6. I've never booked one myself. 😆😆 It does soon more logical to look OUT instead of DOWN, though, doesn't it? Also, I went and read some other reviews for balconies on deck 6 after your post, and evidently some of them may be above the Encore lounge. Check the deck plan and make sure your room isn't above anything that may disturb you. I hope you enjoy your cruise SO MUCH.
Absolutely! If its after your check in time, you'll be allowed to board!
When we pick our check in time and accidentally wind up being late for the check in time we picked, can we still get on? We are driving in and we plan to leave in enough time to have a cushion but if we wind up with unforseen circumstances that will make us late for our check in time, I just want to make sure we can still get on. This is our first time cruising. TIA
May I ask what the advantage of looking straight down would be? This is a true innocent question. Not a smart comeback or anything. I thank you for answering. We will be in 6390 upgraded from deck 1 ocean view. I just hope I made the right decision.
Luckily, the only thing above you is cabins. So your room should be quiet.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but here is something to be aware of. There's a lanai that wraps around the Promenade deck (Deck 5). So your view straight down may be obstructed by that. Furthermore, people who are walking on the lanai will be able to look up and see onto your balcony. Just something to be aware of.
Obviously your view straight OUT to see won't be obstructed. I'm sure you'll enjoy your balcony!
Just upgraded to a balcony stateroom and its on deck 6. Can anyone give me any info. I hope it was a good move!
Finishing up cruise shopping today! Got to start packing soon!! We leave for New Orleans in 1 month and 2 days(spending two days in New Orleans before shipping out).
36 more days y'all!! 😆😆😁😁
If you mean having your luggage taken aboard the ship on embarkation day, the 6th, its free. Of course, you should tip the porters who take your luggage (they'll be wearing Hawaiian style shirts) about $1-$2 per bag.
Myself and 3 others are thinking of driving to New Orleans the 5th....Dose anyone know how much it cost to have our luggage taken aboard the ship.
I'm so ready .. I see a party about to happen..
39 more days to go

We're coming from Monticello, AR!
Lucky you for no hotel and no parking fees! Wow!
If I lived 10 minutes from port I would want to cruise like once a month! 😆😆
It is a 6 hour drive for me too. We are coming from Houston, AL.
My son lives 10 minutes from cruise terminal. No parking or hotel fees for me. Lol. He comes in handy sometimes.
