Not sure how you'll get on then TBH. I'm assuming they will allocate one of the sittings for you as you board tomorrow. We're now safely in Southampton and getting excited!! 🚒🚒🚒🚒

davenmike   Dec 16, 2016 - 5:11 pm

We prefer to do our own thing, we always find things we'd never see on planned trips.
In Copenhagen the free shuttle bus drop off is only 5mins walk from the Christmas market at the Tivoli gardens. Another saving on the organized trip..

We've seen that too, 6 euros return ticket...that's a huge saving and its only 26 minutes on the train.

All of the places we stop at have free walking tours, you give a tip at the end, how much is up to you. I've done the Amsterdam walk before and it was brilliant. You have to book that one. I've also booked the ice bar in Oslo independently. When we get to Zeebrugge we are taking the train from just outside the terminal into Ghent. It gets there faster than the P & O trip and a fraction of the price.

I'm taking one of those plastic hanging storage things to go on the back of the bathroom door for make up, shavers, and other things that there isn't room on the worktop for. Post it notes so that my partner knows where I am if I decide to go my own way for a while, and one of those folding shelves that hangs up in the wardrobe (for shoes and jumpers)

Best to ignore the moaners I'd say davenmike! We've seen adverse comments about ships we've been on and thought "were we on the same ship"? In opposition, we booked an apartment in South Africa last April that had 8.5 / 10 and when we got there, I've never seen anywhere so filthy in all my life and we refused to stay there, wondering how anyone could give it that score! just enjoy!!!

That's what we are planning to do. All of the ports are close to the city centers and easy to get around on foot.

St Mad's Christmas special.
Set the moaners adrift day

davenmike   Dec 13, 2016 - 5:51 am

As a cruise virgin that has been scouring the internet in preparation for our Christmas at sea I have a small
observation, and/or question. Are all cruisers a bunch of moaning mertles? Of. All the reviews I've read at least 80% seem to be moaning about one thing or another. One man hated the cruise because his flight was delayed, another managed to block his toilet 6 times !!!!!! , and another complained that his cruise wasn't 'christmasy' enough while posting a picture if him sitting beside the biggest Christmas tree I've ever seen. Perhaps we need to start a 'good news' cruise review site and set the moaners a drift in a lifeboat.

You can look at bar prices from the cruise personalised. Go to "Advice Centre, tab at the top right hand side and ask the question.

Dave_iw.... take your sunglasses cos if we're lucky enough to get some winter sun you'll need them. Also take lots of layers for when we go ashore

The Golden Circle is a brilliant trip do to pack as much as possible into the day and half the price from local operators on the dockside compared to ships prices.

WE went to Iceland in 2013 on Oriana. It's the most amazing and fascinating place imaginable. Be prepared tho with layers of clothing. When we went even the Icelanders said it was cold for the time of year...... 6 degrees one day whilst we were there and terrifically windy!!! Boo trips through Viator rather than on the ship or wait til you get to the port in Reykjavik.

littlesue   Dec 12, 2016 - 11:43 am

Take sunglasses! If we're lucky enough to get some winter sun you'll wish you had them. As my husband has literally just said a minute ago..... please don't take tooo much! You men just don't understand! Lol

You can have as many cases as you can fit in your cabin. I think the weight limit is for health and safety reasons for the crew to move them around the ship.

Hi All,
The countdown is ticking away on our first ever cruise. I'm trying not to over pack and I have a question for you seasoned SeaDogs.
Is there something that I should be packing that now one ever tells you about?
Thanks
Dave

I've just rung P & O and they know nothing about it, and have said that if there had been any change in the itinery, passengers would have been informed by e maiI so I guess we can assume that there's a blip on the app.

Im presently on the cruise personaliser on P & O website and its still there so it must still be going ahead? Have you contacted P & O direct?
