For me they were all sold out. I'm so sad! Maybe I will camp the events hoping people who signed up don't show...

We got into Newark from Detroit around 2pm today. Staying at Country inn and suites which is literally right across the street from the most amazing outlet mall. Cozy, comfy hotel. Great location! Can't believe cruise is actually tomorrow. Been waiting so long.... It's surreal!!! :)

"Cape Liberty Cruise Port" should get you there, but the actual address is:

4 Port Terminal Blvd, Bayonne, NJ 07002

But be warned, the GPS in that area is notoriously spotty. Here are some directions to follow, if you need them:

If you're getting off the NJ Turnpike at exit 14A, you go straight across the toll plaza to a ramp that goes up and curves left. You stay to the right and go right at every opportunity. When you get to the traffic light at route 440 you make a left, stay left, and make the first left onto Port Terminal Blvd.

I have been on over 15 rcl cruises. We always bring a case of water. No problem. They have Evian water on board. We do not like it. We bring Poland springs. Never had a problem. And we didn't have to put it in a suitcase

Same here, I'm a computer engineer. Can't wait for 270, bionic bar, everything :-) Gonna be a great Honey Moon with the Mrs. See everyone there! As for the water, what do you have to lose? I have seen cases of water before with room tags tapped to them, no problem. I'm probably gonna put it in a suit case. But if they take it, then out $5.99. Or they would probably keep till end of the cruise. Can probably also pick up a case in florida and walk on the ship with it. I think water they will allow, soda and such no...

winnychan
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

winnychan   Dec 08, 2016 - 8:04 pm

Here, I looked it up just to be sure. From royalcaribbean.com:

---------------------------------
Guests are not allowed to bring beer, hard liquor, fortified wines or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use on boarding day or while in port. Alcoholic beverages seized on boarding day will not be returned.
---------------------------------

Guests wishing to bring personal wine and champagne onboard may do so only on boarding day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom.

winnychan
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

winnychan   Dec 08, 2016 - 8:02 pm

I believe they do object to bringing your own bottled water -- or ANY beverages, for that matter. They would rather have you drink the overpriced bottles of water they leave in your room or buy a beverage package!

Marysy

Sooo... any other puzzle-solving nerds out there looking forward to trying this new room escape experience, "Escape from the Future"? I just tried this style of game on land a couple weeks ago and it was a blast! PROTIP: do not come to this event tired or drunk. You will have to be sharp and observant to survive! These games are quite challenging but very exciting. We escaped... but just barely, with only 1 minute and 40 seconds left on the clock. Talk about suspense!

My daughters are 5 and 6.
I am a professional angler so I am booking a combination trip for big game and also reef fishing for my girls.

Happy birthday! On the 13th we will be in Nassau. Me and my newly wed wife will be checking out atlantis as she has never been. But I was just watching a YouTube video and they walked to a beach called junkanoo, which looked very nice. I have never been to that beach so I don't have much more information. Youtube can be a wealth of knowledge for places to go. And like Windjam064 said in Florida there is coco beach, there is a short shuttle ride to get to it just a couple minutes away from what I can tell.

Happy Birthday! My wife and I celebrated our 50th on Radiance and had a greater time. Make yourself an " it's my birthday" pin and wear it - you'll get great interactions with crew and passengers alike. We have Disney passes and are going to the MK on your cruise to see the Christmas decorations. For a beach, CoCo is great.

On Dec 13, the ship will dock in Nassau. One of the best on-your-own excursions there is a privately owned Boat company who is rated very highly. I've been to Bahamas a few times and know it well.

We are looking for a couple age range 20-55 to join us (23,24,34,37) on a 4 hour boat tour/excursion. I can give details but it does involve swimming with turtles, seeing reefs, water sports, and site seeing. It's a great trip. The cost will be $175 for the couple (great deal!) which includes the Captains tip.

please email me if you're interested so we can discuss details.

Dec 13, 1-5pm Nassau

Thanks! joefox7 @ gmail .com

You will have a great time a Coco. Basically it is a beach day, so a lot depends on the age of your kids. Note that there is a charge for some things on the island except food and beach loungers. We rent the snorkeling gear and a float mat and spend a lot of time in the water. There is hair braiding there, some walking paths, usually some organized beach games, etc.

Oh other odd thing is Google Chrome gives me some other error. Internet Explorer says that message about them modifying it. And my phone was letting me look at everything else in my reservation until I cleared the cache. Then the same message as Internet Explorer lol...

jdwix
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

jdwix   Oct 27, 2016 - 8:18 pm

Hmmm, Very odd. So I checked a little while ago on my phone and all of sudden there were 3 shows there. But when I checked on my computer it now says " the requested reservation is currently being modified. Please try again at a later time." I tried again from my phone and once I cleared my browsers cache I'm getting the same message. Hopefully this means they are fixing out entertainment. I took a screen shot of the 3 shows when I briefly saw it. The gift, spectra cabara and we will rock you. If anyone is able to get in and book please let me know. It's locked me out now for about an hr so far.

And totally agree RCCL doesn't seem to really know what is going on with the issue. That needs to be fixed and communicated both to their CS and an email to all cruise goers would be nice too. I'm kinda surprised they don't send an email already letting us know when dinning opened etc... need more communication please.

Windjam064   Oct 26, 2016 - 6:50 am

We have never had a bad cruise vacation and won't have one in December but the inconsistent messages from customer service about this issue has me antsy. I don't think the CS folks are lying but they certainly aren't managed. There is a lack of leadership - RCCL needs to agree on the message, get that info to their reps and also direct communicate it to the passengers. I say we should all storm their corporate headquarters and get this resolved. While we are there, let's get them to start putting chocolate on our pillows at night too. :-). We should start a FundMe campaign to raise bail money though...

Wind I have cruised many times and have only had to reserve entertainment twice. Which I prefer not having to. However reading all the comments on this sight it concerns we about not being able to get in town a show. I was told yesterday to send my phone number. I did a woman called and said the web Department fixed it. She then transferred me. Then after a long hold they came on and said you cannot Reserve. I just don't like being pushed around and lied to.

WOW! I wonder what went wrong. It's going to very interesting to say the least. I now have to use a Cane until my hip surgery next March. So hopefully I can get in without waiting too long. Others have stated you can book entertainment for later RCCL cruises. So can't be a technical problem on RCCL side. Looks like RCCL is dropping the ball on this cruise only. Hey, I'm going to injoy either way. As I have said before. A bad day on the cruise is still better than a good day in the office.

Windjam064
Contributor Level: Second Mate

Windjam064   Oct 25, 2016 - 12:44 pm

Kodak7, I can only hope that RCCI told me the truth on the phone. He said that this sailing will not be doing reservations for the three shows so there will be no booking - even on the boat. There won't be a rush to book because that won't be offered - just show up at the venue like other ships. I am glad for that but have doubts that the staff knows crowd control. This could be an adventure, that's for sure!

kodak7
Contributor Level: Third Mate

kodak7   Oct 25, 2016 - 10:41 am

As Windjam064 should know as seeing lots of posts. Anthem is unlike most ships. If you don't get reservations before boarding. Your going to be disappointed trying to wait until being on the ship. Can you imagine the chaos of 4800 guests trying to do that on the 1st day. I'm hoping this gets resolved soon. Yes, I agree you should just enjoy and make it enjoyable . But RCCL is not making it easy for you and me.

ruger

I'm also pissed. Mainly because every time we call or contact them on FB it's a different answer. I am getting tired of checking the website every single day! I just want a straight up definitive answer. I am betting it's just a computer glitch and basically they don't know how to fix it. So their front line support is given no answers and we are constantly lied to.

Windjam064   Oct 24, 2016 - 11:04 pm

Kodak7 - what I was told was the entertainment shows (the 3 of them on various nights) won't take reservations on this cruise. He didn't know why but said it has happened before. It will be stand-by only, just like other RCCL ships. So, queue up before the show. I myself doubt that Anthem can handle the waiting crowds property (I don't think the ship has waiting areas though of when it was designed) , but we'll see. The NorthStar and iFly you still book in advance. This weird snafu is certainly not communicated well but if this is the worst screw up I am facing then I am going to have an awesome cruise.

npierre890
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

npierre890   Oct 24, 2016 - 10:57 pm

Do not get discourage and Don't think they are pursposely doing this to us Dec 9th sailors. It is not saving them any money by not posting our entertainment. There must be some technical issue or something. Hopefully when we are at our 30 day mark and if not, I plan to reserve the activities as soon as I board the ship.

Windjam064
Contributor Level: Second Mate

Windjam064   Oct 24, 2016 - 10:51 pm

When I called they said there can be cases when entertainment can't be booked and this might be one of them. He said that it looks like this ship won't have reservations for the shows and it will be stand-by like other RCCL ships, which is fine with me. Denise44, I don't mean any disrespect but if this really irks you then this might not be the cruise for you. Cruises are what you make of them. For myself, I never had to reserve shows on any other ship and I'm a bit relieved that I won't have to here. If you have your NorthStar and iFly reserved then you'll be fine. The only thing they haven't (and apparently won't) opened up are the three shows. The Puzzle Room, Bumper Cars and the like are reserved on the ship as normal.

This is getting Crazy. The one thing you see/learn on Ship Mate is you can't wait until getting on Athem to book your shows. My other RCCL cruise, the headliner show was by muster station. Of course it was on a day at Port. Wasn't going to miss a day in Bermuda to see the show. Not liking this at all.

Omg!! This sooooo freaking frustrating!!!! It's just wrong how they are handling this. I can only afford to take my kids (10yrs and 15yrs) on vacation every few years and want to make sure we can make the most of it. jdwix

jdwix   Oct 22, 2016 - 3:48 pm

Yep. The more people that keep contacting support, maybe then they will actually fix it or change the process. But no matter what still gonna be some long lines at customer service on the ship if they don't fix it.

Why is the Anthem December 9th 2016 entertainment still not available?!? I keep calling each week and keep getting lied to. I don't want to hear just wait till 60 days left or just wait another 7 more days. That is a bullshit answer. Please call your own damn ship and find out what the real holdup is and get back to us... PLEASE!!! Dinning is filling up and you guys keep comming back with no real answer. It's 49 days left till the cruise now and you have people able to book entertainment on all kinds of other dates for anthem all the way into February.

We're sorry to hear this, Josiah. We're looking into this matter for you. We'll be in touch shortly.

12hrs later

Thanks for your patience, Josiah. Entertainment is currently unavailable for all guests on this sailing due to some last minute changes. As soon as the scheduling is completed by our Entertainment department, the shows will be available to reserve. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm guessing there will be some confusion with going back to old dinning rules but with 4 separate dinning rooms instead of one giant multi level one. But typically the old multi level dinning halls, one floor was dedicated to classic and the other floor mytime. I also loved the little show the waitstaff would put on, but I guess we now have 270 to make up for that ;-)

jdwix
Contributor Level: Deck Hand

jdwix   Oct 12, 2016 - 2:06 am

You can make reservations online. However as of Nov 27th sailings it's now back to mytime dinning. So you will be limited to just one of the 4 main free dinning rooms. They will all serve the same menu. 2 of them are for classic fixed time dinning, and the other 2 are my time dinning. I don't know what criteria they will use to then assign you to a resturant from there. It might be something random they print on your room card, not really certain..
