Great Western Carib Cruise on a Fantastic Ship
Short visit, did some shopping as one of the first ships back in. Lots of shops have closed.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
Didn't tour. Overnight at Quality Suites was fine and reasonable with some breakfast included. Around the corner at 3 Sons was the best "New York Pizza" this New Yorker has ever had. Do it!
Always a fun spot, but we have been here a few times before. We just got off the ship for an hour or so. Hawkers were kind of pushy.
Celebrity Apex
Don't miss the entertainment and explore all the nooks and cranies.
Not much to do here. Off the ship is a shopping terminal and the Big Fiddle. Walked along a new waterfront area, with just a couple of food and ice cream trucks. Looks like the town is preparing for more ships.
Ship docks near town. Good shopping in terminal, short walking to excellent waterfront area with museums, restaurants, more shopping, local street entertainment. Took a wonderful, intimate “wine and cheese sail” on a sloop with four other Summit passengers. Sampled four local Nova Scotia wines and cheeses. Good time, great conversation , well worth it.
Wonderful old city, want to go back. Ship is about ten minute ride from town. First day walked on our own in Old Quebec. With six ships in it was very crowded and a llittle tough walking hills and cobblestone streets, but lovely shopping. Second day took 7 hour bus tour to upper city, the Wall and out to the Basilica Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Montmorency Falls (higher than Niagara), lunch in a scenic country restaurant. Very informative. Lots of stops to walk around, shop, etc. At St. Ann’s don’t miss the Pieta and check out the Stations of the Cross on the adjacent hill.
Took a great ride on a beautiful old schooner. Great chat with crew about operations on the boat as well as info on Portland. Land portion took us to a scenic lighthouse, great photos.
Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey
Efficient drive-up and drop off. Good parking facility short walk back to terminal. Check-in was very quick in a well organized terminal.
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
No excursion, just got off the ship for some local shopping and walking. Very pleasant area with musicians and shops, got ice cream in Cows (nice), visited St. Dunstan’s Basilica just up the road from port. Worth the walk.
Beautiful Scenic old town. Took whale watch excursion and saw a whale frolicking with two dolphins. Didn’t show much but he surfaced a few times. It can be really cold outside especially when the boat is rushing to the site. Bundle up. Sitting outside may not be great strategy because once a whale is spotted everyone piles out to the rail in front of you. Glad we did it.
Boston dock area has lots to do nearby. We hopped on a ferry to the Old Ironsides museum and toured the venerable ship. Gorgeous and historic.
