Victoria was the icing on the cake. We arrived just as the sun was getting ready to set (everything had a golden hue) and was greeted by street performer playing bagpipes that you could hear a few blocks away. The bagpipes kind of set set the tone for how spectacular this port is. I wish we had more time to explore. Tip: As of June, 2019, Uber/Lyft are not yet available, but there are a ton of taxi's at the cruise port. Not knowing that all the action happens less than a 10 minute ride from the cruise terminal, we accepted our taxi drivers offer of $20 USD to take the two of us to the Fairmont Empress. I guess we got screwed because the ride back was only $10 and that driver was super friendly.

Wouldn't be a visit without Butchart Gardens and recreating a photo of us on our honeymoon in May 1980.

We walked to downtown. Took about 30 minutes each way. Very easy, a straight shot.

This is another amazing and breathtaking port. I would LOVE to live here! We ate at Frank's Modern Diner and the food was to die for.

We loved Victoria! We did not book an excursion, as nothing really appealed to us. We figured we would explore on our own, and honestly, we figured it would be somewhat of a boring town. It also was an evening port stop, from 6:00p.m. - 11:30p.m. We got off the ship and all the tour companies are there trying to recruit you to their tours. We ended up meeting a pedi cab guy who had a double pedicab (yes, he pedaled and dragged around 4 adult size people.) Our pedi can guide was awesome!! He was funny, told us so much about the city, let us off anywhere we wanted to get off for pictures, gave us great suggestions, and was just amazing! We fell in love with Victoria! The tour was 2.5 hours and then we got to shop and have dinner and just hang around and get to know the city. We would go back to Victoria any time!

Didn't have a tour booked here but when we got off the boat there was an area offering tours by car instead of bus. It was $80.00 per person for 3.5 hr tour in a 1964 open convertible with blankets provided. The man was a local guy who served in the local Coast Guard for 25 yrs and knew tons of facts about the area. He showed us all around the area, stopped if we wanted to take pictures. Great tour

Didn't know what to expect at this port, but was very pleasantly surprised. Victoria is a very charming destination. Butchart Gardens is a MUST-SEE (especially in early May as things are in full bloom); just allow yourself enough time b/c the shore excursion tour didn't give us enough time to see it all. In our opinion, Craigdarroch Castle can be missed, as far as we are concerned. Victoria is a destination we'd like to go back to explore more!
