Didn't do too much either - did the tour bus - enjoyed that. It was warm out and we were in an a/c bus so that was a plus Got to see alot on the bus.

We were very happy to see the Emperess Hotel. Our grandparents spent their honeymoon there almost 60 years ago! It was a wonderful memory to see them standing in front now, after 60years. Would have liked to spend more time in Victoria. We ate at Nautical Nellies, about 4 blocks from the Emperess Hotel and it was excellent, but a bit expensive and quite a wait, but good and a popular local spot.

We waited in line over an hour to get off the ship for our excursion - but since we were so late, we cancelled the excursion and stayed on the ship. I understand that the ship did not keep MDR open later to accommodate the excursions that were delayed. they had to have pizza or buffet.

The walk to the town was 40-45 mintues (only 1.2 miles) but it is a scenic sidewalk. If you take an excursion stay on and get off in town, so you only need to make the walk once. The excursions were not the best in Victoria, they were packed and they drove through the twon very quickly - it reminded me of a Wisconsin Dells tour/Ducks tour. Save your money and skip the excursion - instead walk to Fishermans Wharf and maybe take a water taxi.

Absolutely stunning, really a beautiful city! I wish that we had booked an excursion here, we mainly didn't because of the short (and late) time frame at this port. But what we didn't know is that the city is pretty big and we really had no idea what we were doing... We caught a shuttle right off the pier where our ship was, which was great but when the shuttle dropped us off in town we had no idea where to go. We wandered some and tried to see what we could but a lot of places were already closed. We ended up finding our way down to the government building. I can't quite remember the exact name of it but it was right down by the water and stunning once it was almost dark out. The entire building was covered in lights and we felt lucky to see such a beautiful setting, a must see! We really didn't do or see much else besides a little shopping (which was plentiful where the shuttle drops you off at, although it's mainly souvenir type things). There are several restaurants and bars that seemed to be open but time didn't allows us to see what they had.
