Butchardt gardens was beautiful. If you want to have high tea at the Empress Hotel, book your reservation online through Open table months in advance. It was wonderful and is now checked off my bucket list! It is a long walk from the Empress (45 min) to the pier. Pay the mone and get the shuttle or that 25 minute walk they claimed onboard must be for those who ran the whole way.

Went to the Butchart Gardens and wandered through the gardens. The flowers and grounds were beautiful. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The driver that tooks us out was knowledgeable. We asked to drop us off in town instead of taking us back to the ship. He said he would if he could find a place to pull over and he did. We enjoyed a delicious meal at an Irish pub.

No excursion, but we walked around. I wish we arrived earlier in the day, but overall the port was wonderful. We visited the empress hotel for a wonderful blue gin drink. I recommend the lavender lemonade drink. It is gorgeous and tasty! During our arrival it was a holiday and the Sea cadets were doing a ceremony at the parliament building. We saw a parade, cannon shot, marching band, etc. Extra bonus....But it was warm and the mosquitos started to bite at dusk. We were not prepared (our faults) for the bugs so we decided to head back around 9:30pm (with our 9 month year old). I wish we had time to do a ghost tour or some other tour, but we did take the 1-hour hose-drawn carriage tour back to our ship. I enjoyed that and learned a little about the architecture of the area. There was a lot to see and without more time and proper transportation we did not get to see it. I hope to visit again.
