This isn't a bad port to leave out of. We stayed here 3 days prior to visit and had a generally good time. The only drawback I had was the large number of panhandlers in all of the tourist areas. The tram system is a pretty good way to get around.

The new process of going through the ports was so much easier and faster with sail and sign cards disbursed in rooms, no long lines or waits

Mardi Gras, Bourbon Street, Oysters, Jazz; what isn't there to like in NOLA. Its a great city to party or enjoy some great music. My experience was one night into town and wanted more of it. If you decided to come a day before your cruise, you won't be disappointed. Fun and activities for everybody! My recommendation is two thing, try Brago's with their Chard Boiled Oysters and the French Quaters for good entertainment. Now, the port in NOLA. It is difficult to get to if not careful. We came through the Riverwalk [a mall] and went down the elevators to get to the terminal. If you come by taxi/uber, you might not get dropped off next to the terminal. So I would suggest to allow 20 extra minutes if its your first time there. The terminals are very nice and cozy but with cattle call be a little to much. And leaving from the port down Mississippi River is a nice sight to see. -Happy Cruising Everybody!

We stayed in NOLA a few days before and after our sail dates. We highly recommend it. So much history. Unending dining and entertainment choices.
