Penang is a nicer smaller town than KL. The Peranakan Mansion was wonderful. However, we had signed up to go to the Batik Factory and they made a change in our itinerary which eliminated this stop. Beware of the changes they make with no notification. Apparently you have to constantly monitor your excursions to make sure you get what you want? Ridiculous.

Free shuttle buses are available but you need to be fast enough to wave it down. There are shops and eateries within walking distance. Mastercard and Visa not widely acceptable in most places even in 7-11 & other convenience shops. Nice and cheap street food.

Has anyone done the Temples and Penang Famous Home’s excursion by Princess Cruises. We are booked to go in Feb 2019 and would like to read some reviews.

Very hot and unfortunately tendered (not scheduled) which added to the time of the tour. Okay guide but could have been a bit more informative. We visited a street market, museum and stilt houses.

Excellent port could walk from cruise port in and around city, but make sure it’s not a public holiday or religious festival as it is extremely difficult to get taxis back to ship in the evenings as they all go on holiday too.
